I didn’t experience any mishaps with the Amazon Key in-home delivery service. That surprised me.
Amazon Key took over my door for 3 months. It wasn’t as creepy as I expected —

The answer is NO
Just put a big lockbox on your porch for deliveries. No privacy concerns. No complicated tech. No worries. Just a simple lock and key.
Why would anyone want this?! If you absolutely need to protect your package why not just use the nearest Amazon Locker instead. Just doesn’t seem practical to me.
No.
Why should customers have to pay to allow a stranger into their house to benefit Amazon (they no longer have to refund or resend your package)?
You are asking for a tragedy if you buy and use this sketchy product.

Naw, I’m good, this software will be hacked.
I don’t understand why they don’t just come up with a “Amazon delivery locker to put in front of a home. You could chain it to your porch and the delivery folks would have a key to one side and the home owner has a key to another. You could even make it look like a bench.
may be they should invent a large “Amazon post box” (like a size of a bench that function as a box or bench) that allow the amazon guy to open it and put the package inside. the whole system is recorded and live to user. Auto lock after he finished delivering. of course it must be bolted on the ground/house and with GPS so if it detects being moved to else where, it will send alert to user and call the police.
Guys, the point of amazon key is to make life more simple. Having a locked box outside just makes things more difficult. You have to unlock, open, get the package out, close, lock, get the package in the house. This is a niche product/service and if it doesnt appeal to you then dont buy/use it, its that simple. Would I use it? If I buy a lot of stuff from amazon, yes IF I live in a safe neighborhood, but I dont even live in the US. So whats the point of this if Im not worried about my packages being stolen? Convenience. Is that worth $300? In the long run, for some people, yes. Like I said before, this is a niche product/service. Im sure there are people who buys EVERYTHING from amazon, and for them, this might be worth it.
The time is not so far when Amazon will deliver your products to Bad room by a hot delivery man..
Abslutely crazy idea, is this a joke? what? open your door to a stranger with no one at home?
Never!!
I’m pretty sure it would also invalidate any home insurance you may have though 🤔
Love you Megan! You are the best on CNET.
This is the most stupid, no purpose, dumb service I have even seen.
Why instead of risking your entire home, you just make a delivery cabinet outside your house and install that creepy product in it?
Jesus, are people getting more and more stupid every day?
Yuh college english kids where you at?
Just got through watching a video from CBS with a guy saying it’s hackable.
Our security system is set every time we leave the house. It will need to be inactivated every time we expect a delivery otherwise the alarm will sound when either then garage or front door is opened. Doesn’t seem practical for any household with a security system.
Key In-Garage by myQ and Amazon is a better solution!
This is one of the single creepiest things in the world, right behind Amazon Alexa. I don’t understand why anyone would give this evil company, focused on global donation a way to listen to your every word, and physical access to the inside of your home. It’s already been proven that Alexa records everything you say, and sends a transcript of it to Amazon.
Why are people so lazy that they want this stuff?
But I’m in prime member and the app is not showing up in the App Store
