Some cool fea­tures, but…
Does this Fire TV Cube pre­vent the instal­la­tion of Kodi?
Will we need to side­load, etc, to install cer­tain apps like Kodi ? Like all the oth­er Fire gad­gets from Amazon??

First­ly, thanks for the fif­teen times or so this video turned off my tv. That was super con­ve­nient.…
I’m strug­gling to see the need for it because I can do this already with the fire stick and a har­mo­ny hub. I sup­pose this is a cheap­er more con­ve­nient way. But the har­mo­ny hub allows me to con­trol the Xbox and oth­er con­soles as well. So it’s wider reach­ing. Like the Doc­tor Who style cube though.

Whats tv mod­el is it

The assis­tants can take com­plete sen­tences. You don’t say Alexa and wait. You just say it all in one com­mand. Makes y’all look like you don’t know any­thing. Just like how unlock­ing iPhones is much faster than y’all show in videos you don’t have to wait, just assume it heard you

How will the go with if I have echo also kept in the liv­ing room so if I say Alexa both will get triggered

i always fol­low CNET because i always like the way give tech news, one thing i dis­like the way only pro­mote Ama­zon and Apple and not Google, last Google IO, Google pre­sent­ed JBL smart speak­er with AndroidTV built in and CNET did­n’t show any review about, although they keep bash­ing AndroidTV and prais­ing the Chrome­Crap (Chrome­Cast), to me this is pret­ty biased , and i hear stu­pid com­ments like ‘Google need to put Android into the Chrome­cast’, look around wise guy there has been some­thing called AndroidTV since 2014 which hap­pens to have both, Android and Chromecast

I real­ly don’t get the point in these devices…if you get a smart tv nowa­days you will get most of these features.

I think I’ll stick to one uni­ver­sal remote thanks. Also saves the wife con­stant­ly say­ing “what’s that hon­ey?” from the oth­er room each time I’m talk­ing to Alexa lol

Not nec­es­sar­i­ly lazy. Peo­ple have lim­it­ed gross motor con­trol, com­pre­hen­sion, or dex­ter­i­ty. Pret­ty sure you have to be elect­ed pres­i­dent before you can razz them

I sug­gest mut­ing Alexa dur­ing this review.

I just got this (on sale for $60) and I love it. For those say­ing “I can push a but­ton faster.” Well… yes, but you will need to do more than that. If you have a sep­a­rate stream­ing device like a roku, and your tv is off. You’d have to turn the tv on with one remote, switch to the appro­pri­ate input, then use anoth­er remote/app for that device to nav­i­gate to lets say net­flix, search for the movie you want, then press play, then go back to your tv remote to con­trol the vol­ume. With this I say “alexa, play (insert movie name)” and it turns the tv on, auto­mat­i­cal­ly switch­es to the appro­pri­ate input for the fire tv cube, and starts play­ing the movie (if it’s on mul­ti­ple apps it’ll ask you which one you want to play it on). With kids I’m con­stant­ly search­ing for the remote(s). For me, unques­tion­ably worth it at the sale price.

CNET, can i con­nect the ama­zon cube in hdmi in xbox one x? is it pos­si­ble to con­trol through alexa, besides the tv, also the cable decoder and xbox?

I used to imag­ine hav­ing this as a kid I’m so glad it’s final­ly around in real life I real­ly love Alexa Fire TV Cube.
