Ed Simons, who passed away on June 26th, 2018 at the age of 101, was the oldest active orchestra conductor in the world. From learning how to play the violin by watching musicians at his local concert hall at age nine, to performing for President Truman as he headed to the Potsdam Peace Conference, to conducting eight Broadway shows, Ed Simons lived a life dedicated to music. “So what’s your secret? How do you get to be 100?” a former student asked Ed. He answered, “Music. Music is the medicine.” #HistoryChannel

R.I.P. Edward Simons (February 1, 1917 – June 26, 2018)
Why didn’t you show him actually conduct the piece.….……? Good grief
His voice certainly didn’t go frail.
The wooded beardsman will win alone!!!!
I had the pleasure of having Ed as a violin teacher for a number of years. What an amazing man! He also give me my first car, a 1982 Volvo 240 Diesel.
He’s clearly still extremely present for such an age… goes to show the ability required for the violin though, must be sad for the frality to deteriorate his tone so much!
He was a great Conductor & Violinist.
Amazing.
