One phone has sleek new features and the other has a big battery. But both are easy on your wallet.

I find it easier to watch CNET reviews on YouTube than on CNET itself, mainly because I already have autoplay disabled in YouTube, so it doesn’t load videos I may not be interested in before I’ve had time to disable the autoplay (which is a problem for me on CNET, at least until I click through to the 2nd page of the text review).
As to this particular video, I’m interested in both phones, appreciate the very succinct review, and am hoping to see a great Prime Day deal on these on Amazon this month.
It have slowmo
THis really doesent have 4k recording? The g5 plus did so thats quite a big downgrade.
I’ve just got the g6 play and love it
Really like finger print position in moto g6 play
i love my moto g6 play. the battery last almost 2 days. i got it on amazon for about 215 after tax and amazon even allowed me to break it up into 5 payments. I fell in love with motorola with my moto Z play, however i drowned my phone and im too broke to afford another one. this moto g6 play is right up there with my Z play
How is a glass back better?! It takes a spill, shatters and now you have to replace the back?! I don’t get it.
I hear the G6+ (international unlocked) has an NFC chip. How true is this?
My father has an iPhone 7 plus but I bought him the g6 play on Verizon because where he works at he doesn’t get good signal unless its Verizon. Overall I feel like I got him a very solid affordable phone with android 8.0 for $125 🙂
Thumbs up for featuring Perla.
Thank you for the review. Due to this review, I decided to go with the G6 over the G6 Play.
What about the sound? for headphones and playing music?
I have this phone and it’s shit, it’s got no gyroscope, it’s got no magnetic sensor and the camera is low quality, low saturation, poor sharpness, struggles to focus and the zoom is a digital zoom and out of focus, don’t waste your money like I did.
I grabbed a G6 Play. No complaints. It’s not the fastest phone out there, but it’s super efficient. No complaints.
Nice video
Moto G 6 Play here I come! Great battery life is the top selling point.
I’d buy that for a dollar
I just got my Motorola g6 play and I love it so far I don’t use the camera because I’m not a fan of pictures I don’t use the finger scan either so this phone is perfect for me it’s cute light and the wifi and 4g networking works great and fast talk and text is solid that’s all I really need and the beast of a battery is a plus for me I use the phone a lot so a big battery is a must 4 stars a grip case with a screen protector will protect the phone if you want to keep it for a few years just saying I had a Samsung Galaxy J3 emerge and this phone works better than the Samsung no joke I’m in love with this phone my only complaint and the reason this phone got 4/5 stars is because the phone kind of glitches and pixelates a little when you are online it doesn’t happen a lot but enough to notice but other than that this phone is top notch love it
Why is the display on the g6 dimmer than the g6 play ? I wanted to buy the g6 but I can’t deal with the dim screen .
I just bought the Amazon Prime version G6 with 4 gigs of RAM and 64 gigs of storage. It’s zippy and generally I’m happy with the camera. I can deal with the lack of NFC since I’ve rarely used Android Pay in the past, but the fact there’s no notification LED is frustrating. If I’ve been in a separate room, listening to my TV with headphones, etc I’m constantly waving my hand in front of the screen to check for email or texts. Also I wish the fingerprint sensor was on the back because reaching for the front facing sensors makes the phone top heavy and my hold less secure. That’s not good for a phone that’s glass front and back.
waton klo
great video. very succint and to the point. You answered the question directly — should I buy this and which would you recommend. Gr8 job!!
Just get the Q6…
Dude. First time watcher. I love your honesty
can it play fortnight 60 fps?
I have a moto g6 play just got it yesterday it works wonderful
excellent review! nice and simple.
Just bought a hour ago let’s see how it works
Wait a minute moto what are you doing. The g6 play should have the higher resolution display and type c charging, Also have the dual cameras that would of been the way to go.
Like if you agree.
Junk !
g6 play is 100$ on boost lol
Excellent video and info! Ty! It is now 2019, I’m looking to replace our Galaxy J7 (2015) phones which are lagging, freezing and have had it. We bought them in 2016 and they have been great for 3 years. I have 3 kids to feed, so buying a phone for more than $250 is just not gonna happen. Thanks for explaining the difference in the G6 and G6 Play. Helps a bunch. Just wondering if the J7 (2019) is as good or better than the G6 now, 10 months later…if anyone could answer this for me, please do. Thanks 🙂
I had a Samsung S7 that just died! After paying $700, I was expecting for it to last more than two years! I have been a Samsung fan, but after this disappointment, I am ready to try something else. So after countless research on budget phones, I will give Motorola a try. Wish me luck.
I saw straight talk had the Moto g6 at Walmart for 149, then they had it in the unlocked phone section. Same for but 249. Whats the difference?
G6 play too slow. I switched to the g6
the motorola website states (copy/paste):
dance in the rain
moto g⁶ play sports a 3D glass back packed with light-reflecting particles, so it looks great from every angle. Best of all, a water-repellent coating helps protect the phone from accidental splashes or light rain.‡
FALSELEY, because it IS plastic. Just got one to replace my Acer Liquid Zest Plus (5000 mAh!), which I had for years, but dropped and broke the screen recently. As a very moderate cellphone user I think I’m going to do just great with the MotoG6 Play. But see the un-truth of their ad on the website.
I’m gonna have this phone for a decade. I got 5 lithium batteries and the same sim card since 2015 ( ;
This is the worst phone ever made. From the start I had to download a ringtone just to get it to ring. It is a never ending circus of tasks I have to perform just to use the damn thing. Sometimes it just doesn’t work. I pull it out touch on off and nothing, stays black. I can never view it outside. Now I need to view my messages, so I know what time to go to work in the morning, and the message plus app has stopped working. So in stead of a good night’s sleep I’m busy trying to bypass a default app and use another.
The worst phone I’ve ever owned
The lousiest smartphone I’ve owned. Been using it for 15 months and oh my God this phone is slow!
This moto g6 gave me bad signal and was very bad because whether I’m in a call or great YouTube video it’ll turn off on its own by itself…I didn’t press nothing and this happened often to the point I been bugging my parents to buy my a Samsung galaxys20plus because even with audio as simple as launching apps the sound will buffer and I didn’t like that either… now maybe this is a better phone for seniors… but not me because I also use YouTube and stuff like that all the time so it was slow for me. I was tired of that moto g6(not play) to the point I was like I either am having my parents buy me a new phone or I’m walking around with my life without a phone that’s how upset I was with that phone
The new samsung galaxy s20 plus has way much better signal than the moto g6…i was out and about and I was on video calls and nothing got choppy so I’m already happy on that part
excellent review my guy. today is 8/7/2020, I’m STILL rocking my G6. I got the wife the G7 last year and I’m thinking getting my daughter a G6 or G7 as her first phone. Its all I can afford, but these phones are still keeping up and we’re still happy with them. if you’re on a budget, take a look at Moto G6 or G7. cheers 🙂
I love my Motorola G‑6
This phone is trash the storage is trash u can barley play because all the lag don’t buy it’s trash
the camera on mine broke in less than 1 quarentine
how is the fingerprint scanner i’m buying this used to replace my moto e5 i like these motorolla phones small big battery and fingerprint
IS IT WORTH 175.00 IN 2021 THOUGH?
In 2024 watching this on my Motorola G6
