Project Treble promises to bring balance to Android’s biggest problem: version fragmentation. First introduced with Android O, this reworking of the Android OS’ internals will hit its stride in Android P, evidenced by the fact that seven OEMs released Android P betas in parallel with Google. So, what exactly is Project Treble and how does it help? Please, let me explain.

My version of g6 still didn’t receive oreo. Definitely a nightmare.

nothing will change!
Project Treble big BS
Oreo should have Project Treble, but nothing change! (lots of Oreo 8.0 phones will not see 8.1 soon and maybe maybe 9.0 in final 2019)
would be nice, BUT, last android will be always 5% share
Android pinaple? No
Android pistachio?yes
NEVER DOWNSCALE A 60 FPS VIDEO TO A 30 FPS VIDEOOO, jk i love you 😚
What about obscure interfaces that don’t fit these subsystems?
No treble for Nougat & Oreo? :c
Android P? I’m still on marshmallow (sigh)
Hi, please tell me, there is rumor that every phone that is released already with android 8.0 will have treble, is that true? For example, note9 will have project treble on board or not?
GARY!!!
Good Afternoon Professor!!!
is there any project bass ???
He didnt mention samsung even once HMMMMMM
Does that mean if you get a phone with Android p on it that it’s guaranteed to be able to get future Google updates?
How many times has this been promised?
lol wtf i thought he was unboxtherapy
P in Android P means Pappu. Not peppermint. You can confirm it by calling google main office.
is Mate 10 Pro qualified ?
General driver harsh male Arab committee use possibility way indeed exciting.
Android P more like Android Penis
1:28 Uh huh nods nods nods Uh huh nods nods
I just want my LG G5 SE to receive the oreo update.
Amazing work Iliyan Malchev and team!
I always thought about it and Finally it’s here… Awesome 👌👌👌
You apologise for the extraneous noise that affects the interview with the Google guy, but then decide to include a pointless drumbeat as background to the rest of the video. Please let Gary explain without such irritating distractions.
you guys have to apologize for that eye bleeding focus on the restroom sign i guess. thats my opinion tho. totally up to you guys.
Normally I enjoy the clarity of your presentations. With that level of background noise, please burn in captions in the noisy parts. Thanks.
I hope it comes like demonstrated. Giving the OEMs and Carriers a “Veto” option which update should arrive on which device at the end was the biggest mistake Google could make and gave them a huge disadvantage against Apple. The new project just works well if OEMs and Carriers are forced to use the HALs as well ofc.
Hi Gary! I like videos, they are very informative and to the point. I’m very curious about the Snapdragon 710 and how does it compare to older 820, 821.. etc. Hope you’ll make a video explaining that. Thanks!
hmmm, but I need to buy a new phone don’t I?.. as long as mine still works, I’ll stick with 7.0… thx
but whenever I do update, if this is already around, great!
i have s9 plus…im Sure it’s treble ready.…
I wonder how would Chinese-targeted OEMs react. On one hand, treble is great; on the other hand, the government doesn’t like Google.
Will this only be on flagships or we will see some lower end smartphones get Project Treble as well?
Another confusing Google patch job that even the people implementing don’t fully understand let alone the users! 😀
Querry: Why do we say hardware is faster than software and more exactly how?
Did you catch him on the way to toilets 🚻 😂

This is good news!
0:54 Lenovo and (reportedly) ASUS are notorious for that level of laziness within their respective Android device divisions. My Yoga Tab 3 Pro, which would’ve been a great tablet, is stuck on Android 6 due to Lenovo’s shitty Android device division not keeping their Android devices up to date, so I have to put up with their buggy notification shade and app switcher, as well as a bug in some internal Android thing that renders image thumbnails, like those in Twitter, and the emoji panel in the Instagram comments. It’s so bad, that I had to use “Friendly” instead. Lenovo really needs to learn from their Motorola division when it comes to keeping their devices up to date. In fact, I spend more time setting up apps I install there due to annoying Android “Screen overlay detected” errors from apps like Power Shade that I use to cover up the buggy Lenovo software.
Gary, I get it that you’re sorry about the bg noise but instead of being sorry you could’ve provided captions for that part. (Advice for editors)
Basically, this is for future phones running stock android P and some phones with pure android O like Pixel.
#Can you make one tab apk/software who any mobile phone can be enabled project treble automatically separate vender partisan than reboot phone
nice
Skeptic about its adaptability because of the business strategy. Though this should be excellent for non-handsets such as auto. Where device upgrade is not expected to be very common.
Android Q is coming and my 1 and a half years old 1000$ phone still runs on 8.0.0 and won’t receive further updates.… F— LG with locked bootloader.
Hey Gary, try to cover your mic at least with a rabbit tail next time…
Two years later and it looks like project treble failed at its primary objective.
“Treble can’t address an increasingly undeniable reality within the Android ecosystem: the fact that most Android device-makers have little real motivation to make timely OS updates a priority.” — Computer World’s Raphael
I had enough of all factory customized android! from now & on looking for stock Android (AndroidOne). & the straw that breaks the camel’s back is the EMUI suppressing apps notification that I doesn’t used regularly! for example, you don’t recieve notifications from loved one or customer services from those apps you don’t use regularly!! Stock Android means first & regular updates, the most practical, stable version you can get. fast & sleek looking!
