The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is one of the more difficult phones to get into. See how TechRepublic’s Bill Detwiler and cohost Jason Hiner accomplished that task — with an unfortunate casualty along the way.

This was pretty cool. No idea how ppl would spend 1k for an iPhone x for half the specs.… And no headphone jack 😂
PLEASE READ THIS, IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY THE NOTE 9 IS THE BEST SMARTPHONE OF THE DECADE!
Got to spend some money???
Forget Apple with their false advertising, Forget Xiaomi, Forget the Fragile Oppo Phones and those “Full Screen to body Ratio” Vivo Phones. Forget Huawei with Saying that they have the best camera while their device can not perform better than Note 9 in low — light conditions. Forget Sony claiming they have the most megapixels in a single camera. Forget Google claiming to be the best smartphone with the smoothest experience and best single camera ever.
This ladies and gentlemen is the best smartphone so far of the era. Not because it’s good at a thing only, but because it’s good in many things.
There are OEMS like Apple that are good in one thing, and that is their CPU power. This device may not be that, but at least it packs many good and useful things into a single 6.4″ device.
Okay tell me, where in the world is there a device that has:
-Micro SD Slot up to 512GB Memory.
-Headphone Jack.
-4k mAh battery.
-Stereo AKG 3D Tuned Speakers.
-6.4″ 2K Super AMOLED Display, being one of the best displays ever made on a phone.
-No notch, and still more screen to body ratio than iPhone X.
-Best low light camera out there, having dual aperture.
-NFC.
-4G speeds up to a GIGABIT per second!.
-Most durable water and dust resistant smartphone ever, IP — 68 Rated.
-Hybrid Slot.
-Type — C port having a pretty fast and decent charging time thanks to the Fast Charging technology Samsung has.
-Fairly protected battery that does not explode.
-Great liquid cooling out there with a gigantic heat pipe to keep the heat away.
-Decent customisation on Samsung’s Android with Samsung Experience 9.5 that has many features ahead of every Android version out there.
-Android 8.1 with top protection, thanks to the active knox deployment system.
- 8GB/6GB of RAM Memory and 128/512GB of Internal Memory.
-Fastest and best Wireless Charging out there.
-Durable front and back glass.
-Iris Scanner.
-Great front facing 8MP camera.
-Noise Cancellation Mic
-Samsung Dex (PC Like workstation mode) that can now be used with a single Type — C to HDMI Dongle.
-Best S‑Pen out there with Bluetooth capabilities for taking photos, unlocking your smartphone, playing/pausing music, and more stuff around that.
-Bixby 2.0 which is far better, smarter and more optimised.
And last, but not least price below 1,200$.
What else could you want people?
Go on, I’m open for Discussion!
This was pretty cool! Seems mostly modular for the main components once you get past that pesky glass back.
I think that alot of these companies will phone themselves out of business. These phones can last multiple generations. I have a Note 4 and it works perfectly.
@4:40 Totally didn’t expect that 😂😂😂 I feel your pain man
Pixel 2 xl ..
Wow! A big selling point of this phone because it has Fortnite…?
I’ve been cracking open Samsung Devices for over a decade 1:16.…..4:40…Crack!
Great video I have a Moto G 5+ I would like to see it on your show. If for some resin you cant open this phone on your show could you tell me if you know or not if the battery can be replaced if needed or not. Thanks & keep up the good work.
Quite literally cracked it open.
All I usually need is a plastic card and a heatplate to get those back panels off. Put it on the plate and set it to 60°C for about 4–5 minutes and it comes off smoothly
you guys should have your own channel just coving cracking open!
Cracking open the Note 9 with the boys!
a pro destroyed the case. this is why peeps need to demand removable batteries.
11:39 Three and a half inch Headphone jack!!!! WTF!! Very sloppy Tear down (AKA — Cracking Open). We expected more from CNET.
Next the iPhone 10s plus or whatever they are going to call it.
💩
Um, yeah.
Why?
4:40 The horror!!!😱
New meaning to the phrase “CRACKING” open.
Watched your video. How is it possible that the Rear-Camera is not centered in the middle? Bought a Note 9, and both cameras are not in the middle. It really looked awful. So a refund took place. Maybe CNET can answer why the camera is not matching the camera holes of the body?
Your a Moron !
no comments , because … nothing
Im here to see liquid cooler
Where is liquid cooler!!!?
It’s good that you didn’t cover up the crack error you made, you could have easily edited this bit out but chose not to. Kudos.
Can you replace the metal frame on the note 9 the one part before the screen
Noob

전문가라며!!!!!
C’mon. 13 minutes long. Too much talk. Would rather a close up vid instead of cooking show type scenario. Didn’t even show all components. If you’re gonna waste a phone, waste it properly.
TOTALLY uneducative.….what about the WIFI module…what about the many sensors?
What is the rubber covering the battery?
