Advancements in hardware and software have made it possible to do the bulk of producing on a phone or laptop. Mobile music production has become increasingly popular – out of convenience and sometimes necessity. Even for artists and producers with access to professional studios, there is a need to create hits on the fly. And these same mobile tools have now put the power of a studio in everyone’s hands. Dani Deahl heads to L.A. to meet with Grammy-nominated producer Oak Felder to see how he is using mobile production in his work.

Which audio editing tools do you use on your phone or laptop?
Don’t get me wrong he’s amazing, but making a video about this is like making a video about people making money through youtube, it’s already common sense at this point
Such a chill guy love him
Nice Job, thanks for featuring 👌 💚
Lol. Every home musician been out here doing this on all our devices wherever we go. But good for him! He isn’t stuck up he’s just out here doing it like we all are
This felt watching like one long ad haahha
What’s the app on phone
Literally this is the life I want ❤️ I don’t want any money I just want to make music all time.✨ Lack of gears and money is not going to stop me
I thought its going to be something interesting
Winners win 🥇 I’m finally building my studio in 2020 thank you 🙏🏾! Great video !
laptop and a pair of decent headphones 👌
They obviously haven’t met nick Mira yet
DAWs : exist
The Verge: 😯
im jealous this guy actually owns an ilok dongle
How do you think music has been made for the last 20 years? Loll…tf?
I want to get a new Laptop for Music production. Maximum 1.8k . Anybody an advice?
He’s producing Lauren Jauregui’s album. I’m so ready.
Now I realized how poor I am
How exactly does he transfer the kick sound from his phone to his mac?
Haha… and I thought this is the normal way to produce nowadays… stupid me
Man you are a genius you just inspired me to step up my game
No chance you’re mixing a hit song without acoustic treatment. Impossible to hear what you’re actually doing. Hopefully technology figures this one out soon!
Wack artist
What is that for an MacBook pro
“Turn a laptop into a studio…”
What they actually mean: “using a DAW”
Let’s collab. Send me some loops..
How do i hate autotune…
Cheers 🍻I am also an upcoming bedroom producer 😎🙌
2:10 I like the question
Yep Pro Tools could not even get it to load on my computer… When I first got into arranging music on garageband could not get it to work either… Persistence pays off finally got it to work then graduated to Logic Pro Having a mixer board and being able to bus in some nice mastering signals was nice… Still can’t get Pro tools to work though…
I need the song that he produced with that artist, sounded incredible!
As technology makes high-end music production, and film production accessible to everyone with a phone and a laptop it is raising the bar for all of us to be better artists, and for the world, a better art scene.
Hoooggg riiiiiiderrrrrr
Wow! This LITERALLY came up on my home feed today (September 2021) where I am typing on an M1 Pro computer and I bet Oak is happy to get rid of dongles but not so happy that the touch bar has gone.
It would be great to do an updated video with him since he brought out a producer pack for GarageBand and see how the new MONSTERS in M1 performance have either helped or hindered his creativity.
Man must be sad for music notes to be removed
Touchbar is very convenient for many musicians
Let’s get someone who knows nothing about music making to interview a producer. It’s all really basic stuff so it’s strange to see her reaction to such basic stuff.
This video introduced me to music production!
“Top producer”
Literally never heard his name 😂
Thank you for sharing this tutorial
4:14 this shocked me and was kinda a wake up call as to how little I really know about making beats. A lot of my beats I make got no more than 10 tracks so the facts that he has 177 is pretty crazy to me. I got a lot to learn.. 😅
2:12
I can totally relate…🥲
I am so inspired
