Today, Waymo rolls out a driverless taxi service called Waymo One in Arizona. The company has been operating self-driving cars, occasionally without safety drivers behind the wheel, for about a year and half now. The goal is to use all the data they have collected to make Waymo’s autonomous vehicles the safest drivers on the road. Andrew Hawkins went down to Chandler, Arizona for a test ride.

Do you trust self-driving cars?
any news on Waymo in Feb 2020? Did the project get terminated?
We are older leople living i a small progressive city. We gave up our vehicle several years ago due tonhealth issues and trying to live on a very liw fixed income. We have public buses that are free but they are hard for my spouse to use due to the bumpy rides, odors from perfumes, colognes, stale alcohol and cigerette smells and mobility issues due to health. So taxis are what he mostly has to have. Waiting in the cold and heat and standing at bus stops is very hard for him. We have taxi vouchers from our city for disabled but our company can’t keep drivers and we ait hours for pick-up. Driverless vehicles would solve this issue.
Confused I was expecting to see you sitting in the backseat with nobody driving the car so it’s not fully autonomous?!
I trust self driving vehicles more than I trust human drivers
Hell no ! What is a censor or camera malfunctions well being driven. Or get corrupted and sends bad information.
bruh i clicked on this video cuz i thought that was Ryan Reynolds on the thumbnail LMAO
I was wondering if I could go self driving waymo systems
“How do you make people believe that a self-driving car is safer than human one?” — We will unleash a virus called covid-19.
In a self driving car you’ll still get stuck in traffic and it takes even longer to get where you are going so what’s the point for the “average Joe”. This only benefits companies who want to cut out human drivers. I’ll save my excitement and money for when they come up with hover cars.
Yes I would.
I want to ride in one. I would like to have one for a day and spend all day touring the entire city and shopping.
Come and get me. I would put in all the hours you need. Come get me!!!
It’s 2020 where’s my global pandemic?
So, a driver must be at the wheel at all times. I wonder is he is liable by omission if the car makes a mistake, and an accident happens? 🤔

If you’re not aware that this video is conditioning your mind for something soon to come then here’s your wake up call. Everything will be connected. IoT. Global automation. Digital currency. Fully tracked. Your car will be stopped and locked until the police arrive. Your entire home will be monitored the same as your alarm system is today, my a monitoring service. Your appliances have already been set in place and are recording you, and reporting you. There will be no option to disagree. It will be this way or no way. The data collections of the last decade have created a vast file on you. Your program is ready. Your pod awaits. But there’s still a brief moment…
Waymo? More like lame‑o.
anybody got the links for the stats used in this video ? need it for a hw
Not at this time. Give it 10 years I may
Knight rider theme plays
WHAT would you feel safer in ? A human driver who is distracted,
pissed, hot tempered, broken hearted, depressed, intoxicated,
inattentive, gleeful? OR, a computer which NEVER makes mistakes?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I wonder which…
!
Yes. As a driver ed teacher (both Zoom-classroom and In-cars) and, as a person who loves cars and loves to drive, we have got to get people out from behind the wheel. Humans make lousy drivers. No matter how ‘good’ we think we are, no matter how much training we have; people don’t see a thing and don’t obey the rules of the road. All cars off the road except Waymo-like taxis will put more money in everyone’s pocket and keep everyone safer on the roads. (Forty thousand dead, 1.5 million car accidents nationwide) We need driver-less cars.
