Uber’s first air taxi, a TV that rolls up like a poster and BMW’s riderless motorcycle were some of the most jaw-droppingly exciting new things we found at CES 2019.

lol the helmet costs 899 dollars… we can buy a motor cycle in india for that price
Look at the new Samsung micro hd screen… Way cooler.
Obviously none of you follow UberAir and the Uber Elevate conferences 🤦🏻♂️
Love it
So.… The helicopter from artificial intelligence?
That not from the avatar movie 🧐
These are just prototype not out yet so i’m just here hoping all the inventions actually come out
Its not even 900, its 899 :0
uber? uber taxi? from news no longer active in south east asia?
I think the concept of its look are stolen from avtaar
Uber air is way more feasible than the autonomous car. Kids pets cars motorbikes bicycles and everything else on the planet is on the road. In the air virtual roads can be created and a autonomous air vehicle can and will happen probably in 10 years. Not for Uber but for private companies who’s clients can afford $400 per ride my estimate for a profit margin that works. Upon saying that air travel even if it is cheaper than helicopter rides aka $200 per ride min maybe for a 10 min ride equals $20 a min. So if Uber air is $10 a min at 20 min max is $200 max per ride with current tech plus a margin of safety. The return on a vehicle which cost $300,000 plus 15 rides per $1000 So 15 x 300 or 2250 rides. Then assuming charge time after each ride is 1 hr min. Then a tech check 5 min each flight We are talking about a 2 hour per ride or 1 half hr per ride minimum turnaround time. So max rides a day is 10. You will need to have replaceable battery models only because of this fact. With replaceable batteries 1 hr turn around time. So maybe 24 rides max in a 24 hr day with no mechanical down time. 2250 rides / 24 equals 94 days to cover the cost of just the vehicle, but I doubt it will be more than 12 a day. Add top 2 mechanic 1 year wage $100000 and $50000 part time. And how about regulatory fees taxes repairs parts insurance housing garage charging equipment the need of 2 vehicle minimum for a business. I bet 1 year of flight 8000 rides before break even for 1 vehicle which can not happen so 2 years before break even. What is the life expectancy of the vehicle I bet it like 10000 before all major parts need replacing. So we need to raise fairs or it will never pay for itself. I would say $160 to make it even and $200 to make it barely profitable. Lets see what was the cost of a basic helicopter ride it is $200. (250,000 pounds for Volocopter) Lets assume 100 mph max that is a 33 mile limitation. ( Volocopter 2X can now fly for 30 minutes and cover about 17 miles) It is too short and landing areas will be heavily regulated. I doubt you can launch from most areas that helicopters are allowed for 20 years plus. Insurance on a product with no data ha good luck on insuring these things. They will create a new super private corporation who will create some sort of limited liability insurance and bribe officials to accept it. Then officials will we scared and limit its use to un populated areas over water / desert etc. All said and done is why it will take a minimum of 10 years for Uber air and I doubt Uber will be around for Uber air. Also just because it can be done does not mean it will be done it has to make economic sense and have consistent riders. It will take 30 years before the unmanned ride will become cheap enough for people to do it as a need. Then at that point will the cost of energy stay the same as demand of air borne vehicle a complete per person energy waster be the same? I highly doubt it. I see a huge backlash as energy demands are not met and what will seem like elitists riding in wasteful unmanned air vehicles. It will be a very long time indeed before Blade runner makes sense. My estimate is 25 years for limited runs as prices from vehicles to mechanics to guaranteed connectivity back up and everything becomes cheaper it will happen. As of right now no one is doing it as Dubai has announce it in July 2017 you still can not ride one. Good luck to get it up and running you will never make a profit unless you can ban others from opening un manned air travel. In which case you will in 20 to 25 years.
How much does it cost?$$$
wtf is this lady on coke?
humanity is stupid
This looks like the flying machines from Terminator 2
we are going to evolve into ET
Is that why Uber pays there drivers shit money so they can put it into there air taxi!
On those helmets would be really cool if they had those for ATV UTV trail riding and over landing where are you have the same access but you got to download Maps I’m in those helmets are set up differently but even that or some performance goggles that do the same thing and 900 bucks that’s not bad at all Especially for a high-end helmet that’s got a lot of good helmets are not cheap one other thing specially with her writing been able to have a option to communicate with maybe up to four other riders and seeing their location to
You are all a bunch of friggin nay-sayers holy shit, give technology a chance. Things take time to develop, perhaps you’ll get to see all this cool stuff in your lifetime. I’m sure people back in the 18th hundreds thought that a car could never be created or that a plane could actually ever exist but through many trials and errors and perhaps even loss, now we have that which was thought to never be possible. Who knows what 20–30 years into the future might bring us.
Dropping into the strip club in that Uber is gonna be game changer. Bob wont be imoressing too many ladies with his lambo anymore
I don’t know why but that thing TERRIFIES ME.
For a tech reviewer their microphones suck
Engineering rules
Don’t get me wrong, it’s cool and all. But Uber are just about able to attract averagely-competent drivers that rely on their GPS at all times to avoid getting lost. I’m not sure I’d trust Uber when it comes to employing properly trained ‘pilots’.
No pilot??? Hell no
I can’t wait for my neighbors to come home at 3am in an air taxi, waking up the whole neighborhood!
Flying cars are coming!
The future bois
I can see birds having fun flying through those circular propellers.
It should operate as delivery transportation within city pre-determined routes for sometime and then in limited function do emergency flights for some officials. So, it would takes years for general public to hop on it.
I actually liked the bike idea
Hi Mr. Policeman I’m traveling myself by coach, so go each my U.S. Constitution rights baby! 👍😎😂
Uber air taxi? don’t get too exited cause it’s for multi millionaires and billionaires. Most of us won’t be able to effort. More classification of the society is on its way.
Ok…
Floating cars
Everything shown as CES are gimmicks.
So basically a new airport in cities. Okay. But sucks that we ain’t gonna get flying cars with a new propulsion system like Back To The Future or Blade Runner. All these flying taxi’s have propellers like a quadcopter.
Sketchy
Airbus’s concept is way better.
