Aircraft manufacturer Boeing showed off the prototype VTOL it hopes will be Uber’s first air taxi. Also, Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin returns to space after a six-month hiatus, and how tiny swarming robots could one day build any structure on demand.

Technically blue origin dont reach space?

Not gonna lie pretty dope
A complete Autonomous environment is unsafe. There are too many unknown factors and anomalies involved and it will never be safe. I have long thought and said that self-driving cars are not good at all and instead of allowing vehicles to handle the direction and control the movement, they should first try regulating the speed and a simpler implementation for demonstration can be accomplished with proximity sensors. And working with the so-called ‘artificial intelligence’, the self evolving kind, the program can only be made better. It will never be the right time to let computers handle the steering wheel. If these artificial intelligence systems are indeed as good as advertised, there are other greater and better options which many of the giants are missing out on. It is a highly unlikely scenario that a human will ever go to Mars or live on some other planet. Investment in such projects is simply a waste of resources. In an attempt to find more resources, we are burning what we have. It is similar to how one may lose those one/he has while seeking others. Everyone likes talking about social issues but many of those issues can be resolved, such as poverty, only if the investment from these projects were to be used elsewhere. Space exploration does not necessarily guarantee any better returns. It is similar to how a party can use a portion of the marketing and campaigning funds to amend the issues they promise to do in their rallies and get media coverage, which will then act as promotion. Irrespective of whether the party wins or not, their noble deed will be accounted for and may perhaps better lives of many. But that is not how things work and it can be a little disheartening.
normally, i have a lot of respect for Boeing designs, but.… I’ve seen better aerospace engineering from high schoolers. sorry Boeing, but lillium wins this one. I’d trust this craft about as much as I’d trust the bathtub quad copter.
Big hero 6
what the scientists are doing is not to benefit the world’s population it is to benefit the one percenters the global corporations and the world’s populations are merely to guinea pigs every time mankind tries to play God they come up with a bigger disaster than the one before for instance the nuclear weapon
Facebook advert. Hacked i guessed, no notifications, weird recommended friends and comments.
What they should have is drone heli pads that have a GPS kinda of flight pattern so the company can send it to stops seamlessly.
Uber air? Uber cant even launch self driving cars yet…smh
this channel is WTF
WTF WHAT THE F***K
Stupid idea, wtf is wrong with a car, Uber, bike, scooter, regular taxi, etc.
Yea like a uber driver by air.
Star Hopper
Boring.
I have a name for it The Meat Grinder, because when all of those blades get done with you, ground Chuck is all you’ll be !
Air taxi is not going to happen.
WTF, those teeth!

Why you need a flying taxi? Which part of the world it will fly accept may be carlifornia and nevada? BULLSHIT TECH!!
What’s about the politics?
It’s illegal to drive autonomous at the most places so I think it’s difficult to use a autonomous flying taxi.
Fully functional self-aware consciousness, in a computer program. Human equivalent AI. The concept has been tossed around since the 1800s, Allen Turing had much to say on the subject before he ever broke an Enigma code. But so far, we don’t have it.
Personal transport that flies. A flying car, or motorcycle. This one is particularly poignant, because the mechanical & engineering to make that kind of vehicle, whether fixed wing or rotary wing, has existed for a century. Alright, left’s say 75 ~ 80 years for the rotary.… People were making back-yard aeroplanes in the 1920s, using a motorcycle engine, and costing about what they’d need to buy a new car. The reason this know-how has existed, but has not been widely taken up, is that you can train almost anybody to drive a car. You can train maybe half the people to ride a motorcycle, with reasonable safety. But you can only train about a quarter of the people, or less, to be a safe and proficient and competant pilot. And any flying vehicle takes “user-unfriendly” to levels that make a motorcycle look gentle and forgiving. A fool in charge of a flying machine, is like Russian Roulette, with shotguns or dynamite.… one of these six chambers is loaded, and when I go, there’s a real good chance I’ll take some of you with me.
If we can build a system that’s autonomous, where a customer (taxi passenger) can give a destination, and then the machine can deliver her / him to that spot, completely without any help from the passenger, then we will be on a winner. Word is, we’re getting very close to that. But then, I’m an old man who loved aeroplanes since the 1960s, and I knew it was only a matter of time before I got that flying car from the Jetsons, but I’ve been waiting 50 years for that, and frankly, it’s not a whole lot closer today than it was in 1969… The air-frame and the flying machine is not the problem. To some extent, we’ve been able to do that for a century. The problem is the nut that holds the wheel…
Funny thing is all those European countries that band uber will develop technology but miss out because folks wont have the uber app on their cellphone.
Search for lilium in Munich. Already flying, electric and 300km authonomy for 300km/h
Any MCAS problem with MCAS on this air taxi?
in my opinion Air Taxi would only be possible in the world. Only if you cut the population in half. This is only if Air Taxi would be available for everyone not just the rich.
As i can see, concept is very close to helicopter/drone and need more ground clearance. i have better idea and prototype is ready.
They’ll Call it the “Boeing Air Taxi Max” and the people on the ground that get killed well… “Software Glitch…” Really, How about no crap flying over our heads until technology is deemed safe aka never!!
can’t wait for Uber air!!!
This is a pretty monster …
But …
SkyTruck won’t touch the ground in its shelf life (that’s right never lands)
What happened to the Sky Commuter in Arlington, WA in the 90’s?
WTF Tesla’s auto pilot — wow!
Why not just make a self piloting helicopter and be over with it when it comes to all these odd designs.
Quick change out batteries will make short range VTOL air taxis viable in the near future.
Forget becoming a pilot.
This is embarrassing. This design reveals how far behind and backwards Boeing is now. Just look at the competition’s Evtol designs. Ehang, Vertical, Bell, Joby, Archer, and Airbus
Harika bir teknoloji
For the record: I WILL NEVER GET IN ONE OF THOSE CONTRAPTIONS!!! Too many variables and potential for disasters. NO WAY. Enough with speed, greed, and ignorance. Modern life demands everything NOW, too much, and makes decisions based on ignorance. Not ignorance of mechanics or technology, but ignorance of what is important in life!!! Become ignorant of the basic truths of life, and you die. People, do not get in one of those things. There is NO need for that. They will exist to make somebody rich while they are alive and while they probably will never get on board themselves.
