Microsoft is making a new HoloLens headset, called HoloLens 2. But, it’s only getting sold to companies, not consumers. Meant for professionals who work with their hands and not on computers, the new HoloLens has an improved field of view and doesn’t clip as much as the original. Dieter Bohn visited Microsoft’s campus to get an early look at the new HoloLens 2 headset.

Do you think you could use the HoloLens 2 in your job?
I tried the nReal one and that one is pretty good too.
MVIS shareholders crying rn.
Like they always say, Microsoft can only make “software”. They tried to delve into smartphones and tablets and only to collapse big time. Their X‑Box is so so. And Halo-lens now ?
i absolutely love this product it has proven to be very useful in helping others to view life in a whole new perspective.
what I am most excited about the HoloLens2 is the ability to be able to share it with others and virtually create an atmosphere unlike any other within the park my business is currently developing.
I actually see the consumer need here. I think that the next time I’ll invest in buying a good new screen, I’ll just buy HoloLens to free up my desk and get rid of the actual screen. it’s a good enough reason for me to buy it.
Guys, MVIS CEO confirmed they are in it today, until today its only been speculation that MVIS makes the NED and ASICS
I fan think of some applications for this in industrial automation. Basically make it a portable hmi so you are near the kit doing something you don’t have to shout or radio for telemetry data. However it would end up being expensive to program and businesses wouldnt like it without the rockwell/siemens/wonderware etc stamp of approval software side. As a supplement, sure, but regular hmis and scadas won’t be replaced.
Any idea how this feels wearing them all day? Comfortable or uncomfortable? Too heavy? Or are they good to wear?
Do you think this will change the world of virtual gaming
As a software engineer I don’t have as much use of it compared to engineers etc, but I can imagine how handy it’ll be to simply have floating chrome browsers everywhere…
would anyone have known his wife worked for oculus if he didn’t tell us 😂?
I wonder if these workers it’s designed for are a very special sort of computer gamers? It could be a product for everyone to wear while driving and out doing things by being augmented reality showing various notifications, warnings, information, and directions so people aren’t constantly looking at phones for all these sorts of information.
probably yes
Meta does the same thing but more easier and at less of an expense to the consumer. Holo takes the L on this one.
Smart eyewear is the future of personal computers, the successor to the smartphone.
Nice video! I just don’t unnderstand why they call that holograms … I wonder how the defense industry called the image used to project the aim on combat jets … I bet it was not hologram. Once “Virtual Reality” becomes a term and bad hamburgers are made of grass we can call anything by any name.
One of the first AR cases I saw was at Boeing for the people who did the cable sets — that was like 20 years ago. AR is awesome for industry — Teamviewer uses it for Network management. So the IT guy who has to re-configure a patch pannel will have the AR show him which cables to work on.
Can it be used by users with monocular vision
And now we’ve got the Apple Vision Pro
Here to bring up the hololens exists after the Apple vision pro announcement
Wow, I thought the devices were comparable but the Vision Pro blows this out of the water.
2:00 i guess time’s up! apple vision pro is here lol
And its the same price as the Apple Vision Pro
😂 Small Flaccid messed up! Apple just came along and just showed everyone how it should be done.
Apple Vision Pro 4k per eye
interesting to see how the competition 4 years later has not only caught up and surpassed it.
