Fold­able phones are just get­ting start­ed. Here’s what we know so far: the Huawei Mate X, the Sam­sung Galaxy Fold, and the Roy­ole Flex­Pai. It’s already obvi­ous that they’re going to be a big part of our shared tech­no­log­i­cal future. The hype from all cor­ners for them has been deaf­en­ing, whether you’re talk­ing to hard­ware man­u­fac­tur­ers, mobile car­ri­ers, or tech enthu­si­asts. As big and impor­tant as fold­ables will be though, they also face a long road of evo­lu­tion and refine­ment, one where prices will need to come down and usabil­i­ty will have to go way up.
