Microsoft created its own dual-screen Surface Neo device. It runs a new Windows 10X operating system that’s an extension of Windows 10 and designed exclusively for dual-screen and foldable hardware. Like most Surface devices, there’s an intricate hinge that allows the Surface Neo to switch into a variety of modes, and the typical high build quality you’d expect from Microsoft’s hardware.

Too many are already saying it will fail because nobody is developing dual screen apps, but they’re missing the point completely. With this you can have two different apps open on the two screens, which will be perfect for situations where you’re taking notes while reviewing an article, or editing a listing or sales page while being able to view the page on the second screen at the same time. Highly portable, very functional and versatile, there should be a good market for this but a lot will depend on pricing and if the Surface range is anything to go by it’s likely to be out of reach for a lot of people.
Well it’s all going to fall on the dvelopers for it’s success. (Windows Mobile nightmare)
This looks amazing definitely on my radar now just recently purchased the Samsung S7+ Tab so will definitely be waiting for the Neo.
I would love a device that is a tablet folding into a phone and expanding into a laptop. Everything else is compromises.
Microsoft made the bet with the surface pro X to go ARM. I am really surprised that this has not this architecture. I will be curious about battery life when this comes out.
This is innovation
I wonder if msft is gonna cancel this or just delay it
Why? WHY didnt they greenlight this instead to the duo… Can someone explain? I’d love to have this device!
Definitely into this more than the Duo.
Can the Surface NEO
make phonecalls with a sim card?
Now this has my attention but the duo not so much.
Can you install Linux on it? 😄
So, so, so wrong.
It is a dual-screen tablet, nothing more. Same as the Libretto two-screen window laptop.
All they have now is a dual-screen Android tablet, same as the SOny two-screen laptop from 5 years ago.
They need to wake up and simply make two 7 inch screens, run Android and have LTE, THAT is the one that will sell.
5 inches is too small, 9 is too big.
Delayed now to 2022, and minimum price 2k
Looks amazing — are putting them out now to encourage devs to work on software
It’s sad that it wont come out until 2022 now 🙁
RIP
The black In the middle kills it for me
I’ve been A Microsoft fan for a long time. Still use a Microsoft Lumia 950XL as a secondary device, as I finally switched to Android. I only use Surface Pro devices for a laptop/tablet. But Microsoft has left us fans stranded many a times after we have put our (very) hard earned money out, even pre-ordering stuff. My whole family switched to Lumia devices because of me, but Microsoft stopped supporting it. I was one of those to pre-order the Surface RT, but Microsoft dropped the ball there too. I still bought the Surface Pro 7 (replacing Pro 3) but the apps in the store don’t seem to improve. There just aren’t developers that you can get excited about W10. Bringing W10X on Neo, that will require apps to support dual screens, will probably end up on that same Titanic, with all the hype but short life. The Duo will be fine, as it runs Android.
A comment from 2021, still waiting the Neo
We want this… but I suspect MS will kill it and we will never actually see it. 🙁
One thousand years later… I’m waiting…
Any news for the Neo?
I’m from the distant future. This never came out.
RIP
can i launch after effect cinema 4d or steam on it ?
Well this flopped before it even took off.
I’m sorry, but why he says ” jewel screen”, not “dual screen”?
2021 and I’m still waiting this product to be released
and… it didnt launch.
With the reception the Microsoft Surface Duo has received Microsoft probably scratched the plans for the Surface Neo.
Can Microsoft just launch the Surface Neo with Windows 11 please. I want one so badly, I love how it can fold into something smaller and compatible so you can carry it everywhere you go.
This kind of device is a perfect use for alcantara , 4 huge glass panels are begging to get cracked, you also get more of that notebook feel that way. maybe even a leather option.
Scrapped Windows OS.
