I wish I could use the ring with my Google Nest Hub. I’m moving into an apartment soon and all I can get is the peephole ring doorbell, but I have and prefer my google nest hub
We had our first package theft in four years and basically three out of three ring devices failed to detect motion. The reason I know is because I have a backup system from another brand. I called Ring Support telling them basically the system failed. She checked everything, Wi-Fi speed, zones, etc after putting me on hold, probably talking to a supervisor on how to respond, she said that it was because of cool down and frequency settings. The last motion was 8 minutes before and she knew it. I pay $30 for the Ring Plus and am 100% disappointed in their response. If you see this review on other videos, then it’s because I’m THAT DISAPPOINTED after spending nearly $1k in product and fees. Unfortunately, I have no idea which system is best at person detection, but I know it’s not Ring.
Hi
My old Ring bell would announce on smart speakers when someone left a package without ringing the bell. Can not seem to get my new Nest doorbell to do the same. Does anyone know a work around to get Nest to announce motion on smart speaker?
the guy at the door 5:15 rofl
25sec in and I’m sold on whatever your selling. Have you ever considered screen directing 👀 I’d watch
nice house!
OMG! A used car salesman personality…
Yay! I just got a Nest Hello for $118.00 out the door, thanks to a sale and store credit.
Really? So I have to , quote on quote” ” pick my poison, for my front doororbell? Really porch Pirate? I mean REALLY? WOW
Damn porch pirates
OwO?
Nothing was mentioned about how secure the devices can be fixed to the wall? Both look pretty flimsy.
Ring takes forever to pull video and always have outage issues. Nest ftw.
whats the best wireless one then ? my wires are cut so need a fully battery operated one
Am I missing something? He said the resolution of the Nest is LESS than the ring, 1200 vs 1080…what?
How would you not have your phone if you called the pizza place..
In the end, plan ahead
So with nest, it has the feature for the doorbell live footage to automatically show on the Google assistant when rung or you have to do it manually?
I bought the nest at Lowe’s for 150. I installed it myself. I say that because that is a feat in itself. I like it very much. Does the job I had to use the wedge that it comes with to angle it away from the wall just a little bit. Drilled into the brick with the mortar drill bit that comes with it. Night vision is really fantastic. I also like the fact that I can customize it.
Trust me people. Ring products simply suck. They absolutely do not function as advertised.
I spent over a year with a Ring system, never worked correctly, could not find the house WiFi without a Ring extender and that failed every few weeks, Ring’s only solution was send me a new one and that would fail in a few weeks. I now have 2 Nest Hello’s with a Nest Mesh Wifi Extender. It was more money but has been 100% reliable.
Haven’t tried Nest Hello yet, but Ring doorbells are worthless. They are supper slow to connect / respond, hard to understand the conversations. I don’t recommend this product to anyone.
is there anyway to get my ‘ring’ doorbell to connect to my google home ?
Very odd eufy didn’t make your cut
But the Ring live pull up after notification sucks.
Sound quality from the devices is noticeable. The nest sounds more clear.
The creepy neighbour made this video a winner 🤣
Google and amazon dont have issues with spying on you
Very cool production cuts, great quality information
Awesome. Lol I haven’t had a creepy Neighbor but I’ve had a regular drunk Neighbor 😄
Well acted!
If you are the type of person who makes a delivery driver come in your house because you’re too lazy to get off your couch then you are a garbage person
The wired Ring doorbells (as well as wired Nest Hello doorbells) are great products. HOWEVER, they don’t tell you upfront that these wired doorbells all have an internal non-user-serviceable battery. IF you will be using the doorbell with a mechanical chime, just be aware that at some point, the battery inside will fail.
The internal battery on these units are used to provide temporary voltage to the doorbell unit when a mechanical chime is used. When someone presses the doorbell button, power is temporarily routed away from the doorbell to the chime inside the house. The battery keeps the doorbell powered for the 1–2 seconds while this happens. Over time, this small battery will be unable to deal with the voltage drop and your doorbell will lose power and reboot itself. If you don’t rely on a mechanical chime or if you use the Ring wireless chime, than it won’t be an issue. If you do use a mechanical chime, depending on your environment (which includes usage rate, weather, temperature, etc.), the doorbell will stop function properly at some point in time. For most users, it seems to be somewhere between 1–3 years.
“Little less than 1080p, 1600 x 1200 to be exact”. This is higher than 1080p. Did I miss something?
You really think your protecting your shot from porch pirates by yelling through a speaker? God what has this world come too.…..
Great Video..Very impressed cnet!
love my google nest doorbell and google smart lock and my google ac. My husband and I can control everything right from our phones
Ring wins just on clarity alone wow
If you have neighbours either side of your walls Ring will never work properly for you.
Probably the worst device I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve had 5 replacement doorbells and a chime because the signal drops or either I don’t get notification on my phone.
I’ve spent the equivalent of maybe 100 hours speaking to these people over two and a half years and today I find out that it will never work a properly because I am surrounded by too many Wi-Fi signals.
The agent said I should never have been given 5 replacement doorbells because in my situation with neighbours either side and below me it will never work properly.
They refused to give me my money back. They’ve cost me at least £70 by going over my one hour phone calls so many times. I’ve changed my mobile phone three times. I’ve bought a Nova mesh system for £150 on their recommendation. All wasted money.
I suppose I should be grateful that after two-and-a-half years they have finally admitted they have been wasting my time and money.
If you buy a Ring doorbell and it doesn’t work for you don’t waste your time speaking to the stupid agents that will lead you on with temporary fixes for years in order to get £2.50 a month to store your recordings.
In two and a half years it only ever worked once while I was not at home. If I go to take the rubbish out sometimes I am notified of my movement 2 minutes after I walk back into my house.
If you have neighbours either side of your walls who have a Wi-Fi connection regardless of whether they are using it or not Ring will never work properly for you. Period.
Do not waste your money with this unless you live in a detached house or a garden shed.
Need to revisit this, if there are interoperability updates or if google’s best competitor is still itself.
so… does ring work with the google home or no?
Not to mention that you can pay anually 30 bucks
Have anybody else ever farted so loud that you damn near got mad at yourself?
Uh who wants fast motion detection notification because what is its just a random person walking in the sidewalk that would be annoying. And ring got this new update where you can see A Snapshot of the camera when the notification comes in.
