If you’re a clamshell laptopper and want to make the move to a more tablet-centric lifestyle, this remains the best overall example of a Windows tablet.

It’s a shame that this device is marred by such awful software
Um, 8th gen to 10th gen processor. I know as I’m debating a $400 Cdn savings picking up a Pro 6 vs New Pro 7
There’s so many errors in this. The quality of cnet has gone down considerably.
The reported diminished battery life compared to past iterations is a downgrade for me.
I own the i7, Surface Pro 5 (2017) and while I welcome the slightly improved processor and USB‑C with the new model, I won’t be upgrading.
How about the speakers? Any improvements?
Nice overview and on point with the extras you have to buy. I will wait for the 6 to get cheaper I think it is still a good machine.
9th to 10th gen…
What’s stopping you from just using a $30 Bluetooth keyboard with it?
accessories are sold separately to allow buyers to chose color combinations. having them bundled prevents mixing and matching. its better this way rather than being limited to bundled combinations you might not like
the cpu was previously 8th gen and was updated to 10th gen on the 7. graphics have been said be 2x better?
cmon cnet.
Just bought mine for school today
Surface pro 7 (i7) or pro X? (For Graphic apps, powerful …)
i9
Didnt explain what it does at all…
Is that a Jeff “Refrigerator” Bakalar cameo?
Hey CNET guy, your review sucks. For people like me who never owned one, it would be nice if you demo’d the damn thing and showed features, not just enhancements over last model.
Why do all the reviewers say yo have to buy the keyboard separately? You don’t. I got it with keyboard in a bundle and it was priced on sale for $200+ off.
can i consider this surface pro7 as a normal Laptop with a full functionality?? can i install Autodesk Autocad and Revit?
Do you guys recommend this for someone that just checks emails. Watches YouTube and occasionally does light work. I don’t want a laptop because I hardly ever used my MacBook Air. But I would really like to have a tablet. This comes with windows 10. Suggestions?
There was no 9th gen
I always sell off my Surface without the keyboard and the pen cause I don’t wanna keep buying the expensive accessories
Surface pro all models are Worst machine/ tablet pc in the world… pls guys don’t buy it… i have wasted my money.
Question: I have a Surface Go (the first one), I want to upgrade to either this or Pro X. Should i?
I wonder how much the opinion changes if the accessories are all included. I just purchased from Costco and it came with a 256gb drive, the i5, and all the accessories for right about 1k.
Would I be able to run Adobe suite (Photoshop & Premiere) on this device.
Perchance even a DAW such as Ableton live?
Costco had a deal last year with the SP7 that had the keyboard and pen in the box. It was I think about $700 or so.
Do you think this will be able to run diablo 2: resurrected when it releases this year? I think the minimum graphics card was a gtx 660, does this compare to that? I mean its a pretty old card so I’m guessing it should.
