This dumb thing will take a LOOOOOONG time to first chill the water, so that you can then start using it. We’re talking hours.
Wow my freezer does the same thing…NEXT!
No
Scam
A microwave for cooling? 😂😂😂
You have to be stupid AF if you believe this BS.
I thought to myself this looked like a Kickstarter scam. Turns out I was completely wrong, it’s a Indiegogo scam.
If you wanna be more environmentally friendly, stop consuming stuff like this!
SCAM
Its sad to see that science, once the best weapon against fraudulence, has her name stolen to generate more fraud.
It’s a peltier cooler, which is incredibly energy inefficient, we are talking up to 300% more power consumption than a refrigerator. There’s a reason why peltier elements didn’t make the mainstream market despite being around for over 60 years.
Don’t get fooled. This thing needs 200 watts to cool one can of soda in 1 minute. This is a HUGE power consumption compared to a fridge. If your fridge used 200 watts of power for every can stored inside, your electricity bills would be 30 pages long. Laws of physics are laws of physics.
more dumb things nobody really need.
Peltier device like this using more electricity then refrigerant based devices like in regular refrigerator.
This is totally a bad idea..
That is why no refrigerator using peltier technology..
Better in cars, they should get contract with Tesla CyberTruck
Fake news
SCAAAAAAAM!!
Is it really environmentally friendly if it uses 3–4x more electricity than a refrigerator would use?
This is cool. Right now I just wet a paper towel wrap it around my soda can and put it in the freezer for 5 mins. This will shave 3 mins of my time.
I WANT IT!!!
It’s almost like journalism is a laughable ‘gimmie’ major and journalists aren’t very bright people or something. weird.
This guy! Scott Stein is his name!!
The amount of ignorance in his head is enough to lose a game!! 😂😂😂
A waterbath is now a microwave for cooling? 🤣
So because it spins you call it a ‘microwave for cooling’?
How about my new inventions…a microwave for playing records! Or a microwave on each corner of my car to provide traction!
I expect a tech show host to be a teeny bit more tech savvy, thank you.
” do something for the Environment” .… puts a single can of soda in a 299 $ mashine with display for 2 minutes to cool it down, while his other 3 fridges running smoothly in the kitchen.
This has to be the most stupid thing on CES this year, and thats not only because thunderfoot already explained why “microwave in reverse” is just the dumbest marketing title every .…
I live in Canada, I just put the drink outside for 3 minute and it becomes frozen 🤷🏽♂️
A complete scam debunked by Thunderfoot.
If I want a cold drink i just put the can under my pillow. Everyone knows there is nothing cooler than the other side of a pillow.
Peltier effect coolers are extremely inefficient, what we need the least right now are items that consume so much energy… :/
Hey look it’s another cashgrab from indiegogo for a crappy and inefficient product
It’s a $300 motorized ice bucket. In other words…its a scam. Shame on CNET.
This works on a very simple concept that you can do with a drill and an ice bucket
He doesnt even use the juno he uses the bulky prototype
You want to know a way that is just as fast, takes no electricity and is truly environmentally friendly? Get a tub big enough for what you want to cool. Add equal amounts of ice and cold water to it and dump in a bunch of salt. The salt helps lower the temperature to ‑20 degrees C and this can cool your drink down in about 3 minutes.
No need for expensive gadgets that take up a lot of electricity. Sure the tub method is less sexy but all it costs you is a bag of ice and some salt.
What there saying about more efficient is a small appliance cooling one can instead of a big refrigerator. is like using a little toaster oven for a small meal is more efficient than using a big 90cm oven that’s left on all the time
This is a boy babbling without a clue.
These have been around for a long time.
If you’re going to use a descriptive comment like “reverse microwave” at the very least its your responsibility to disclaim that was a metaphor for small kitchen appliances
Just stick it in some liquid nitrogen, it’s faster and much cheaper, only less safer. OR GET SOME ICE CUBES, WE HAVE FREEZERS damnit
this is old school. Unbox Therapy made a video about such a device in 2016(“How To Instantly Chill Any Drink!”)
Thermoelectrics, gotta love them.
I’d be curious to see where this technology takes us.
How about a bucket n some ice
just buy a small frigidaire lmao. They’re cute, afordable, and can hold like 9 cans of soda.
