The Kwikset Halo Touch smart lock uses biometrics to secure your home. It can register 100 different fingerprints from 50 different users. We try it out and train it to recognize my fingerprints so I can unlock the deadbolt with a tap — and it even connects via wi-fi!

“HackerTouch”
If only you could use our eyes to unlock it.
I thought biometrics weren’t secure
wifi and locks don’t mix well
I’m only here for jokes about a finger and a hole😂
But does it have LPL’s approval?
Ummm, no thanks. Security in IoT devices is an afterthought.
This is the LockPickingLawyer, and what I have for you today is a Kwikset “Halo Touch”. It’s another electronic smart lock that offers vanishingly little protection against even the most basic of attacks. Folks, I’ve never seen an electronic lock so poor. That’s all I have for you today.
Have you ever seen “Demolition Man” (1993),
or the James Bond movie in which the villain character Mr. Kil “lends” James Bond a hand (which I think is from “Die Another Day” from 2002)?
The problem with biometric ID (including Apple’s “Touch ID“ is that the part of the body being scanned MUST be attached to the original body it came from in order for it to be truly secure. Otherwise, what is to prevent Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes from “Demolition Man”) from “borrowing” your body parts?
This is not new technology ‑_-
I was almost sold until you said the price, I will keep my keypad ones for now.
Why do they make it sound like biometric door locks are a new thing? Companies like Samsung and Yale lock have been doing it for years
I’m not sold would need an outside audit for vulnerabilities
Hai guys
I’m sorry that just screams people with computer skills can enter my house anytime 🏠
So “NO FROM ME” 😉
This is a horrible idea. Anything can be hacked.
Min. 5 yrs old technology 😂
I think beep sound is all same
love fingerprint stuff. But lock picking lawyer where you at?
Ah it’s good to see Brendan Fraser still doing work 😂
Old tech is being recycled by saying it’s smart and works with Alexa and Google.
Dang, I just ordered the Wyze lock. But the Wyze was only $89 so I’m OK with that for now.
Later this year… The last Halo keypad lock debut at CES last year, it finally came out in December, and pretty much only on Amazon.
What if I lose a finger and my keys that day, how do get into my house…lol
ok
Is anyone copying then 3D printing the fingerprints?
