The Dot electric skateboards have three models; Compact, Cruiser, and Transporter. The motors, batteries, and wheels are customizable depending on how much range and speed you want. While the board’s hub motors allow them to cruise freely like a traditional skateboard, we discovered that the regenerative braking system has one big flaw.

$1500 for an electric skateboard? My ebike was just a bit more than that and I get 40 miles of range and 28mph and oh…it won’t kill me if the battery is full. The brake system on this sounds downright frightening.

First time viewer of the channel. I assume that the presenter isn’t familiar with Esk8. Braking for long distances on full battery has always been an issue. There should be some space left in battery pack for this but most people want to ride the board for longer and want it as full as possible. You will need to disconnect the charger early or run the battery pack down a bit if you lived at the top of a hill.
Just remember to screw those wheels with confidence, you don’t want them to fall of…

The Inboard M1 had a braking resistor to deal with the full battery regen problem. As far as I know no one takes care of this serious safety issue or even really communicates about it.
