They are all the best of the best P‑51 Tuskegee Airmen of all time and history
The very brave. The very best!
Dear History Channel, you have no idea how FIRED UP!!!! this video makes me. Thank you!
For a long time they said that the P51 was the 1st aircraft to be able to reach Berlin and back and Escort the bombers.
Yet when looking at an aircraft encyclopedia, the P38 Which was released before the P51 had a significant range enough to make the trip.
If that was the case the P38 would have been the 1st. what changed?
For that we have to go to the other theater of combat in the Pacific.
Famous aviator Charles Lindbergh was taken with the P38 when he saw it. Eventually he managed to weasel his way into it for some non combat flights.
They went up for a flight but Lindy was a bit crestfallen when he was told that they had to go back for fuel.
Once back on the ground, Lindy had a suggestion to stretch their mileage. Everyone listened, And said he would burn up the engine if he tried it. Lindy explained to them that he had fallen across the Atlantic that way!
In the end they gave it a try and Lindy was right! It extended the reach of the P38 lightning til It would be able to reach Berlin.
So when looking at my encyclopedia, Which was written after that discovery by Lindbergh, I was actually seeing a new figure for range, Rather than the one that was given from the factory That the army had been using in the 1st place.
If Lindburgh had made that discovery earlier and in Europe, The P‑38 would have been the 1st To escort to Berlin and back.
The Tuskegee airmen are some of the finest Americans to have ever served in the armed forces and fought for this country.. i am white and i am from the south , but we need to be AMERICANS not black white brown yellow or green !
True 👍black heroes
Does anyone know what the song is that plays at 6:11? I’ve been looking for it for ages
warthunder players: “ayo the p‑51c can’t turn fight a 109 and it has weak climb speed so…”
Respect to these men. Thanks for your service.
Red Tail
I can’t imagine what it would have been like to be on the receiving end of a burst from 8 Browning 50 caliber machine guns. That’s a lot of lead coming at you.
Amazing. The americans never lost an air combat
Do the bloodiest day
These guys were awesome. I met one of them once at an air show many years ago. He was the nicest and most humble man you’d ever want to meet. All the adversity these guys overcame only makes them and their story that much better. The Red Tails will forever have my undying respect.
Your in for a bounce back
Pretty sure the p51 mustang had 6 .50 cal machine guns, not 4 like this video claims. Although, it might depend on the certain type of p51 and its possible there were different variations. Or maybe the command didn’t bother putting in the other two MGs for the black “Red Tail” pilots out of racism
What a bunch of Propaganda, there was never an “ACE” in the Tuskegee airman squadrons. A Brave unit but don’t try to make them something they weren’t ! 4 1/2 kills was the maximum of any Tuskegee airman, in fact only two achieved that. Furthermore they lost over 25 bombers they escorted until the zero that some channels say !!! They also lost more airplanes than the other fighter squadrons !
You know how much it took just to get black ppl in the p51s and the gov gave them the old ones
The Germans did not fire back because of reparations.
Lee Archer never achieved acehood. “Although none of the Tuskegee Airmen became aces, Colonel Lee Archer was one of three Tuskegee Airman to have shot down a total of four enemy aircraft.”
Brilliant American Air Frame with a British Rolls Royce Merlin Supercharged Spitfire Engine made under Licence by Packard in America from Rolls Royce.
There were no “Tuskegee Aces” in WWII, several achieved four victories but none got five.
You don’t often see two swarms of fighters engage in all out dogfight.
It was difficult for the Army to find enough blacks who could qualify as pilots, navigators and bombardiers. The standards had to be lowered for them.
WHY IS THE OTHER 24 EPISODES OF DOGFIGHTS ARE LIMITED TO WATCH IN SOME COUNTRY????
5:15 bro was LAGGING!?!??!
That was NOT NOT NOT a full episode.
I’ve watched this years ago and miss this show. Dogfights was my favorite show on the history channel. I am half black and always looked up to the Tuskegee airmen. Those fighters in the P‑51s but also those in the P‑47s. The P‑47d is one of my favorite WW2 planes behind the F6F Hellcat.
The Red Tails Air Force Division was great, no doubt. But — let’s also not forget the might and heros of the Mighty Eighth Air Force Division.
Are they talking to each other the whole time.
Amazing story.…
