The novel coronavirus outbreak has put the world’s biggest cities into lockdown — and thrown tech manufacturing into chaos. And because of the high-speed, low-inventory theory of lean manufacturing, it could take a long time for the industry to bounce back.

What tech have you ordered recently?
Verge: iPhone rely in skilled labor
My gut reaction: not cheap labor?
Thanks guys
Love this video
” Modern Day Living Is All Abour Balance , One Fell And We’ll Fall ”
who are the phone analysists? who cares if they have to wait?
Cheap labour have cost us million of dollars.… Please wake up.…
What video chatting app does the verge use?
3:25 I’m sure with that is oneplus 5!
Thanks for the content, It has enlightened me about some points
Inventory is also in our fridge. One didnt need a fridge, just run daily to supermarket and buy just in time. Now most have like a 2 weeks reserve of food/water.
This supplying delay will also happen with medical materials like dental stuff.
I’ll still be using my 4+ year old tech
Ah, so Toyota introduced JIT. Niceee
I’m more worried about my PlayStation 5.
Bad video.
Answer: people realize how capitalism if f$#@ awful and lose their fear of the “ghost of communism” (hopefully).
Jokes on you, I don’t buy new phones. My phone had a year-old chipset when I got it, so even a two-year-old phone would be an upgrade
No new phones this year. Good. Last year’s phones are still the latest.
Give the wallpaper link of the thumbnail iPhone background
When manufacturing stops, product gets delayed/not delivered at all.
There, I said it. You don’t need 7 minutes long video to tell you that.
So on top of the 10s of thousands of people that have died, our phones will be delayed? Now I’m upset.
The Verge has “Chester” ☺️ long live Linkin Park 😂
Compiler people thinking Just-in-time and Ahead-of-time compilation(JIT vs AOT). Any compiler geeks here?
Are you the guy from that samsung video in which they roasted apple for the notch on their iphone 10??🤔
“Skilled labour?” No, large corporations mean CHEAP LABOUR. If not China then many might move their assembly line to India. Let’s see what happens.
I hope to see jobs move back to home continent, at least. And, done in an environmentally friendly way… because look at the pollution being produced by China.
Did he really just said a phone is more complex than a car? hahahaha
If companies don’t stock up on parts, why does the newest iPhone look the same as it did in 2014? Why does it have the same screen as 2017? Why does the 2019 iPad still sold use ancient processors from 2017? If parts aren’t stockpiled, how are repairs expected to be performed?
Why whould we care if a certain mobile phone is out of stock for 2 months ?
“making a computer or smart phone is a very complex process” maybe for the verge
That moment when he says a phone has more parts than a car, and is more complicated. Sigh. Why are you even a journalist.
ECONOMICS!
And still, all of this is actually good. The planet is being flooded with tech stuff that gets deemed obsolete in a matter of mere years. Let’s just appreciate what we have, while we still have it.
