The LifeStraw is close to eradicating an ancient disease that has effected millions of people for thousands of years. We take a look inside the technology behind the famous water filter. This is the story of how the LifeStraw came to be and how Jimmy Carter’s Carter Center is making it happen.
WARNING: Some images in this video may be disturbing to some viewers.
LifeStraw has provided over 38 million Guinea worm filters to the Carter Center since 1994. More recently, the company made the commitment to donate all future Guinea worm filters to the Center through the end of disease eradication. In 2019, 520,000 Guinea worm filters were donated.

But under Biden everone gets covid, polio
Watching this as I drink from my Lifestraw# go bottle. Sooo cool!!
Also, those were snakes, not guinea worms referenced in the Bible.
If I drank a cup of coffee with Life Straw, would I be drinking just the water?
Wowzaa…Lara..
Tara…my bad…lol
Can you drink salt water from the ocean with it?
Incredible. What a beautiful addition to our suffering world. Uncontaminated water along with a plant based diet will sustain the billions of people who exist here. Thank you
GREAT I SHARED THIS AND PROMOTED UR PRODUCT TO EVERYONE./
WILL UR FILTERS REMOVE FLORIDE? OR ESTERGYN? US MEN DONT WANT ESTERGYN SORRY… AND ONE MORE THING SOY.
YOU WOULD THINK OBAMA WOULD TAKE PART OF THIS.. SEEING HOW HE SUPPOSABLY HAS FAMILY THERE LIVING ON DIRT FLOORS.. NOTE… HIS DAD WASNT A POOR GOAT HEARER FROM THERE, HIS REAL DADDY WAS A HOMOSEXUAL BI BLACK MAN LIVING IN HAWAII PROMOTING MARXIS PROPERGANDA. IN THE COLLAGES.. HIS NAME IS FRANK MARSHALL DAVID. LOOK UP DREAMS OF MY REAL FATHER.. LEARN THE TRUTH. HE IS A RED BABY.
I got mine as a gift from my job, looked up this video, now I’m obsessed.… I will definitely support this company going forward, great job!
cool!
Uhh one question don’t take this seriously can you drink from the toilet with it?
But it does kill Older causing bacteria
What happen if you add organic chemicals from Industrial waste? Will it filter or pass through
how long do they last and when do they need to be replaced? Do they need cleaning between uses?
Truckee river is in Northlake not Southlake, lol
I’m 10 and I got mine I can’t even drink through it don’t know why is it the same for y’all?
Anyone in Ohio using this?
Straws(membrane) have a lot of tiny filters(straws) in each one. And clears it so it’s safe to drink.
Doesnt work with salt water
just bought one keep doing well and help others thank you
But it doesn’t desalinate does it?
Elon musk should just buy it for everyone in Flint
0.2 is better than nothing but most of the better filter systems now start at 0.1 before adding UV virus protection.
Does it also work for bus station toilets?
The problem is that people drink from the polluted river impacting their health, with today’s emerging technology.i think that the life saving bottles ‚filter straw, etc would be helpful but that is not the solution.government and citizens should work together raising awareness, helding clean up events, etc.
To use it outside sign me in, to use it at home sorry I have 6 stages of the Osmosis system. That is the after-filtration would yield range between 5–17 particles in a million while for other products even factory-filtered water ranges between 30-to 150 particles per million. So when It goes about 25 I change filters. Usually 2 times a year.
For anyone who is still skeptical: there’s a youtube channel named “CloseIntel”, that put the filtered water under the microscope, and visually confirmed that it’s almost as clean as promised.
Thats so beautiful!
After the second drink you can hear him spit it out off camera. He didnt drink it
President Carter was truly the greatest President.
2:03 Notice she does not say viruses because you can still get Hepatitis A and many other nasty viruses from contaminated water while using this filter.… Bad idea always boil unsafe water.
Guinea worm is not the serpent that is coiling upwards, depicted in various cultures. It symbolises the flow of consciousness and the spine.
2nd disease to be eradicated since small pox 👀📸
I’ve watched a lot of these videos and most of them never mentions that most LifeStraws do NOT filter out viruses (obligate parasites). While technically not “alive”, viruses are parasites by definition. They require Host cells to replicate, either budding or lysing the cells as the virion (complete viral particle) exit the cells. I do not use Lifestraw filters. Instead, I use Katadyn or Grayl water filters. When used properly, these products filter out (Ova (eggs)) & parasites (“O&P”), bacteria & viruses. Some, not all, species of viruses cause illness (such as diarrhea) and may be present in water sources. One of the LAST things you want, while trying to stay hydrated, is diarrhea. The definition of diarrhea is three or more loose stools in a day. Diarrhea can quickly lead to further dehydration, & perhaps even electrolyte imbalance.
If the water is murky, has a lot of sediment, etc…, a pre-filter (such as a T‑shirt), should be used prior to filtering w/ the chosen water filter. Otherwise, sediment may clog the filter over time (depending on the amount of sediment present in the water), reducing the lifespan and proper functioning of the filter.
Now see if it works in the creeks in east palatine where the chemical spill happened.
How do you know when the straws depleted or can no longer remove the bacteria?
Your doing so much more then these politicians and big farm‑a who don’t care about humanity
I wish they would have added a carbon filter to remove organic contaminants.
I want to thank you and your company for what you guys do helping the poor Africans with their water. God bless you.
I’m just wondering if it would be safe for me to use on the drinking water in Ecuador
ordered 2 last week for a bug out bag.
Dont swim in this water .. goea and drinks it
So effectively there are a hundred little filters, you are sucking through very thin membranes. Before this was invented I used a manual pump that pretty much pulled water through 2 inches of porcelain. It was explained this was necessary for the same protection L.S. offers today. These several little straws appear to make pulling water easier but it is hard for me to grasp that they filter what they claim through such a single layer thin membrane. Can someone help me understand that it filters everything through a single layer membrane?
Do LifeStraw filters need to be replaced? One place I read they need to be replaced every two months and another place I read they last up to 1,000 gallons (5 years). I am very confused. 😵💫
I have a life straw water bag, and I regularly use it to drink out of lakes and streams on the job. Still alive.
