Surface Go 2 or iPad?

The 4GB 64GB eMMC Surface Go 2 is absolutely fine for Office 365, email, Netflix, YouTube, MS edge. Multiple web pages, full blown multiple Excel, Word, PowerPoint files, multiple YouTube channels can be opened at the same time. It reads and writes to a microSD card pretty fast. So, for a secondary PC it’s worth it for business users / office goers. As a primary PC, the screen size might be a bit of a limiting factor. Overall, it’s a great device even in it’s lowest configuration for the type of usage mentioned above.

Brilliant form factor — just needs to be stronger perf:price ratio for the customer. LTE would seem to be a must also now.
The surface book 1st gen is about the same price, I think I’ll go for that.

Had one returned It 4 hours later.. Will not run steam or any 3rd party software
If I had a little more money I’d of grabbed one of these.
But I went used and got a Surface Pro 3 for quite cheap. Honestly with the i5-4300U with mine loaded with 8gb of ram and 256gb SSD.
Like in some ways this old Surface from 7 years ago is just as good as the Surface Go 2 with the M3 CPU.
Similar benchmarks on Geekbench with the old I5 only loosing slightly.
But already got the max ram they ship with and a much larger & much fasster M.2 256gb SSD!
I didn’t do bad by going used accept for the fact that it only gets 3 hours with light use from a 7 year old battery!
(That is VERY hard to replace)
Honestly this system may even run Windows 11… It meets the requirements on paper even has a TPM… Just isn’t approved because of older gen CPU… But surely that will change since on paper the speed is more then the min & it HAS a TPM!

As a college student the comments convinced me to buy the second model because I have a very tight budget
Even Intel Celeron can stream a 4k60fps video online so of course a Core M3 can do it.…. 🤦♂️

Hi! What’s driving me crazy is that instead of finding a ton of Windows 10 o/s tablets, a search or a ‘best’ list has too many tablets with operating systems I don’t want for personal reasons or compatibility issues — such as Win 10 S, Surface Chrome, Fire, etc And I’m not a huge fan of Android either. Confusing! It would be easy to purchase something without realizing it’s not Windows or Android and not compatible with the apps you want. I hate it! Why couldn’t Surface Chrome, Fire, and the like just use Windows?

For its price with that Type C USB connection it could also be used inside a laptop to serve as the motherboard. This way you get to use a larger display, full sized keyboard, optical drive, real HDD for storage, and the tablet for an easy upgrade path years down the road. Just need a USB hub with some ports to wire into place for whatever configuration the laptop chassis provides. Figure out a way to power it via the laptops power input or maybe access the laptop’s battery for extended run time?
