It’s the most frequently asked question from fans of Forged in Fire—”When will we see bladesmiths compete against our judges?” Now, they are about to get their wish. In each episode, previous Forged in Fire Champions return to the forge for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity—to square off against our renowned Forged in Fire Masters in the highest stakes forging competition yet!
The challenges require higher skillsets and there are more tests to pass. First, the smiths must prove they have what it takes to challenge an icon by beating each other in a series of win-or-go-home forging challenges. The remaining two smiths will then compete with one of our seasoned Judges to create a fully functioning blade that will be evaluated and tested. If the challenger can find a way to prevail against our Judge in an intense bladesmithing showdown, they’ll walk away with $10K and eternal bragging rights.

wind chime are the best shield i guess
Anyone else thinking they should make an album of swords banging into wind chimes?
Whenever I see an episode of this and the amazing blades and things that these guys make, it makes me wish I had paid a lot more attention in metalwork classes at school.
deep thwust
2:24 Confirmed, Doug does not like swinging boat anchors
Well, if you pause at time 04:02 it is kinda all saying. One blade half finished, very uneven. So only thing that could shift outcome was a strenght test. Ben is just amazing. But respect to both, great work in such short time.
I’d love to be on Forged in Fire. All I lack is the skill.
I’ve been making blades for 2 years now, and I make good blades, but pattern welded Damascus is above my ability. I don’t think I was getting the steel hot enough. Some places fused and some never. I couldn’t win anything like that. Spring steel is all I use .
I do however want to learn it all. That’s my nature.
1:14 SO COOL THIS HAS A STORE!
I also did not know you had a newsletter but SS Stole at 1:52 that’s GLORIOUS
OH destined death, become my blade once more !!!
I LOVE how even if one places second, they don’t see it as a loss. A true testament to these folks’ sportsmanship
Ben has already won many competitions in a row when he was a competitor and that’s why the judges have invited him to be a judge. He is the best out of all judges in terms of making different blades and swords.
@ 5:14 WHY SO SERIOUS AHH
Ben’s blade is so much more refined and visually pleasing. Also, it’s light.
What an unappreciated blade. Beautiful and practical.
I TRULY dislike the snow-distortion effect you guys have applied to these videos as of late.
this is 50% salahudin sword
Not the most exciting tests on a sword
Doug just enjoys being covered in blood. Lol. Savage
These tests aren’t as brutal as usual
Why did they have goggles on for this 7:30
Ben is just the most amazing bladesmith. To forge that kind of a weapon with that kind of finish and quality in 8 hours is phenomenal.
i love how close the competition is. they both created perfectly good swords, but the champion was determined by:
-a bit less tiring to use
- looks nicer in a short amount of time.
it’s like… a cooking competition where the champion is determined by the state of their kitchen after cooking, or the taste of the bread that comes with the main dish.
since it’s a competition they had to choose one but really, it doesn’t mean the other competitor lost.
2:25 why did Doug have that expression XD
I love that the guy who made the subtitles added KEAL lmao
So this was the episode where Ben should have lost because of blade damage. Did anyone notice why the host didn’t announce the winner?? It would have been better story line if Ben lost.
Injustice judgement
I consider the ruling to be unreasonable and invalid.
Tyler’s blade may be heavier than Ben’s, but it didn’t suffer any damage; unlike Ben’s blade which took deformation damage.
The tests are there to determine how lethal, durable and sharp the weapon is, not the weight. Tyler’s blade was successful all though each test; unlike Ben’s blade which did accrue damage. If Tyler’s completion score was a 10, then Ben’s was a 9.9. Reasonably. And, because Tyler was facing off against a talented bladesmith who produces primarily historical blades, I would say that considering the difference in skills and preferences in smithing: Tyler came out on top by every presented standard of the judges.
It is my reasonable belief that the judges showed a bias preference in favor of Ben; even though the blade presented by Tyler was clearly superior by every required standard.
Only fair judges make a blade on forged in fire…
OH MY GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD thick Americans and what they watch on TV.
This is the series which pretty much Ben said he disagreed with the most. He indicated that the judges were told to really ensure the judges were always seen as the best, along with cherry picking certain contestants.
4:23 @ .25 speed is awesome
“it’s heavy”
Wrap it up boys. Were done here. See you next week.
Facing ben is an instant loss
The deep thust 😂😂😂😂😂
The judges laughing at a contestant. Why don’t they show us how they can do with the same material and time. Come on judges. show us how good you are.
