Russia is heading for disaster with Putin
If you’re going to include the AN-225 (now smashed by the Soviet’s second invasion of the Ukraine in the last decade), where’s Stratolaunch?
8:25
The titanium leading edge is for erosion protection, it’s NOT any stronger than carbon fiber but resists certain types of damage (like raindrops or bird strikes) a bit better.
22:01
However, you can go back to the 1950s and the series of Union Pacific/GE “GTEL” Gas Turbine-based locomotives that eventually exceeded 8500 Horsepower — nothing has ever topped that in self-propelled locomotives (and only external-power electric ones have RARELY managed it in recent years).
Specifically intended to replace the Big Boys, as it happens.
22:50
If you’re going to talk about LARGE ships, you are looking at recent container ships, and a few Oil Tankers — up to the Seawise Giant (which went through 3 or 4 other names during it’s existence, and GREW during one major overhaul).
DWT after that refit over 500,000 TON range (the USS Fords are about 110,000 and the Blue/Black Marlin are 75,000ish for comparison).
Some of the larger recent container ships are over 200,000 DWT.
Seawise Giant was the longest ship ever, at over 1500 feet long (any post-Midway class US carrier is a little over 1000, with CV-65 Enterprise the longest WARship ever built by a few feet).
23:14
Uh, he forgot his own Black Marlin — but it’s the same class as the Blue Marlin so perhaps he’s talking that CLASS of ship?
30:08
The power for the Bagger series is provided EXTERNALLY — 16+ megawatts of electricity — though they DO have their own electric motors that move them.
Nice to see the older ones in their native 4x3 format. I can’t watch them on discovery channel when they distort them to fit 16x9 screens.
МРИЮ русские нацисты уже уничтожили.
Позволит ли мир русским нацистам уничтожить остальное?
RIP Mriya But I hear there are enough parts to rebuild her hopefully!
It’s really sad that that beautiful bird was destroyed last year..
So many “That’s what she said” opportunities.…
I actually didn’t know of this plane until it was destroyed.….nice to learn more about it. Love you History Channel.…..
11:24 accidently cough a U.F.O.
RIP for the Antonov 225
I was a helicopter mechanic in the marine corp.. we called those big choppers shithooks.sorry1970,s terminology.
@10:05 Flight 1549 says otherwise
The print press one is funny you see a 80 year old working these machines like nothing but they get confused with iPhone smh 🤦♂️
May you rise in greatness Antonov. Your engineering set milestones those yet unseen 🙁
That’s what she said
Does PETA know about those poor test pigeons they throw into those Engines that was cool
Season 9 was from 2003…20 years ago. I wonder what would be the newest mega machines in 2023
brasil was the first to flight a plane. not america! fake news in this program…
isn’t it funny how the greatest engineering feat ever achieved was not documented at all, yes I’m talking about the ISS. zero pictures, zero videos, zero documentation of the assemembly done in space. I wonder why? And how in the world has it lasted up there for this many years, don’t seals and o‑rings need replacing? They’re moving unbelieveable fast also. Doesn’t even seem possible now that I think of it.
So you are telling me that Big Boy of 1941 rode faster than Amtrack I rode thru CA
Big Boys, well, the engines DO NOT MOVE
in relation to each other. The forward part
of the locomotive’s frame pivots into the
turn.
If you would actually “watch” the video,
BEFORE making comments, you just
might be believable. Come on, watch
the video you are presenting. All you
have to do is watch, and narrate the
action.
If you are spouting things we can see,
on the video you narrate, and we can
see you are wrong, how can we trust
the things you say, that we cannot see?
Oh, Big Boy 4014 is a living, operating,
locomotive! Biggest Steam locomotive,
currently pulling cars, and was also the
biggest locomotive built.
steve
So proud of you, Drifter, my man for spreading democracy to the hearts and minds of peace loving citizens.🎉❤😂
I believe the Indy Star shut down the huge printing press in January 24.
RIP Myira
The AN225 was featured in the disaster movie 2012 rip😢😢😢
lmaoooo watching this mention indy star and then now they are literally going broke is hilarious (they did it to themselves they started posting garbage articles)
Wow love history channel 😆
I just like it
Santos Dumont was the first, not the Wright brothers, you guys gotta learn to deal with it
Wonder what happened to that printing press. Recycled? ironic.
