Intel and Apple were once BFFs, but that is no longer the case. This is the story of how Intel went from the apple of Apple’s eye to whatever is the opposite of that.

Next move? Apple licensing M1 processors to Microsoft Windows. Crush MS.
This history should start with Motorola which, made all the processor chips for mac computers until they could not get a version of their G4 processor to operate at 3.0 GHz. The G5 processor made by IBM was not designed to be placed inside of a Personal Computer (PC), it was for use inside of devices for factories. So, Apple found themselves in a bit of a jam with having to continue to use Motorola’s G4 processors for laptop computers and using the higher heat generating G5 processors from IBM for both their tower and iMac desktop systems.
Nice to see Briget after long time!
Next episode: How Nvidia and AMD smashed Intel to pieces
Um, the G5 was never in the Cube. That thing had a G4 and was scrapped only a year later due to low sales. It also didn’t overheat because the G4 wasn’t a hot processor and so convection cooling worked well on it. Why are you making stuff up?
This guy honestly doesn’t know Apple history or have experience. Well, it’s obvious since he’s clearly an Android/Google fanboy from his videos.
The fact that Intel blew their chance on the iPhone is not just poor foresight, that’s bad judgement.
It would be a miracle if intel goes to 7nm.
“2005, George Bush was president, “2015 Barack Obama was the president”, 2018 no mention of who was the president. Can you tell?
I started my career at a time when I thought Intel was completely untouchable. Then came AMD, followed by ARM, tiny companies that chugged away and said, “yes we can”. Now intel just looks foolish. Stuck with its old time friend, “Windows” and relying on the victories of the past. What a sad day for them — poor leadership.
Apple and AMD leaving Intel behind
ARM is good for battery life, performance in specific tasks because it has hardware accelerators. But that is also its Achilles heel if any standard in accelerated tasks changes every slightest processor became useless. Try to watch a h265 video on arm without hardware support. It is impossible, contrary to that now I watch h265, vp9 videos on CPU 9 years old without any problems. When you buy an ARM device at the start everything will be rosy and fast but you will witness performance degradation very soon. That is good for manufacturers and bad for consumers. You must not think that I’m against accelerators but raw CPU power must be enough to bypass at least one future standard change.
Intel never lost apple, they would have changed anyway, if the reason is speed or nanometers apple would have went amd.
Apple likely always knew that they can do it better — most of the issues with the recent MacBook line-up all came from Intels bad heat management.
And boy, is their M1 a revolution in thermal design — you can put that guy under 4K rendering load and it doesn’t even sweat. Personally I am excited for what’s
in store for the first Apple Silicon iMac — this thing will be a beast.
OMG! Bring Back the CUBE! Put in the new Mac Silicon, and that thing will be a beast!
Have they considered adding a new instruction set? That seems to be the shortsighted cheep trick that got them in this mess.
When they should be moving from CISC to RISC they seem to be designing a new more complex version of CISC.
I’m calling it Very Complex Instruction Set Computer or VCISC.
M1 only 10 Watt and has 1700+ single core score on geekbench and 8000 multi core score.
The single core beat single core score of most powerfull dekstop cpu today (ryzen 5950x) and the multicore beat ryzen U series with 15 Watt tdp.
Apple has screwed up the further development of the Power PC processors. — That’s why they switched to Intel.
Mud mmmud
The iMac becomes the MacMac got me 😂
I feel like I’m watching drama between electronic companies and I LOVE IT
I’m glad intel doesn’t power the iPhone
Well apple’s desktop has been using Xeon chips for quite sometime.…… if intel goes down it’s not because of apple it will be because of AMD
That was a cool short history. Well done.
skylake ruined it
Sell stocks of Intel right now
If Intel powered the iPhone, it would be one HOT, as in burning hot mamma jamma.
I kinda want intel in game cause if Intel loses completely then AMD will become Intel soon. Monopoly does that to you.
stupid people believe apple made M1 fakw lies M1 is made by tsmc sells like apple product pathetic loser company people belive in apple lies
i dont know what stupid apple user praised apple for M1 waw made by tsmc sells like apple product pathetic loser company
I love your videos💯
what are you talking about? revenge of the sith is the latest star wars movie to date.
This doesn’t even touch on the fact that skylake should have been released as 5th gen back in summer 2014. Intel pushed out an in-between broadwell at the end of 2014, delaying the new macbooks to early 2015, but worst of all they couldn’t even make quad-cores happen. So the 15″ pro was updated in may 2015 with still the 4th gen cpus released in 2013.
So Intel screwed the pooch twice. First they passed on making chips for the iPhone then years later botched their Skylake processors which made Apple ditch Intel for good.
The cube used a G4 not a G5 processor
5 of 7 min and you did not answer the main question, you just bad in your work.
Dont west your time he just pla pla pla… and no answer
apart from M1 optimization issue, apple is changing everything
Intel hasn’t made really any new processors in forever.
Having worked at Intel for two decades, they are a highly dysfunctional company. Toxic work environment. Apple did good to run, not walk.
INTEL IST realy nice my Q6600 QUAD CORE Still ROCKS
Nvidia GPU with AMD and Intel CPUs is unstoppable.
Raptor Lake is Intels best product in year’s, competition has never been higher, and that is good for the entire industry.
The Cube was a G4, and suffered from heat issues due to its fan-less, passive design. Not to be confused with any G5 Model Mac’s
M1 was mqde by TSMC’s selling like apple product pathetic loser company people belive in apple lies
