Reports say an eye-tracking, lidar-equipped, dual-8K display VR headset could be wildly expensive but could also be the road to AR glasses. Here’s what’s been reported, and how it connects to technology we’ve already seen.

With Quantum computing, huge continual advancments in A.I., a push for the spooky quick speeds of 5G data, and rapidly improving VR… it seems we’re headed towards trying to recreate reality itself, to live through future desolate horrors. Great. Can we stop this?
To stay on topic; your face is very augmented through your glasses… strange to look at 🤓
The next HomePod
The Oculus Quest 3 will be released Before Apple releases anything. And the Quest 3 will probably be the same price as the current Oculus Quest 2. And the Quest 3 will probably have eye tracking.
You lost me at 3,000 dollars
The latest dedicated high power gpus cant even handle 4k gaming.. I don’t see this happening any time soon
Vr needs accessibility right now not a price tag that makes it even MORE exclusive.
It cost more than my car
Hopefully it’s an improvement on my blurry nightmare potatoe Quest 2.…
3k Apple headset. The box is the headset. You just cut out the eyes with a scissors and jam it on your head. Leads/chargers/lens/firmware/cpu/gpu/ram all sold separately.….
8k in a standalone vr headset is impossible. The amount of processing power you would need to run a game at 8k over 60fps is more than a full gaming pc can provide.
Microsoft’s new military contract developing AR headsets for infantry will eventually provide some incredible products for consumers in the coming years
Great video
That is some very expensive equipment to play with the childish software being marketed for the VR. How long will it be before some significant software is published?
Sound like the $3500 Microsoft HoloLens 2
Apple can revolutionize all technology, but not lower its prices.
I’m seriously afraid that the ‘Apple lovers’ just buy anything of them like it’s some cult. But 3.000 dollars? While there are so many alternatives? Seems to me they are super confident they sell what ever they want to their target audience.
I don’t get it. I’ve a girlfriend who is crazy about Apple and will never change. I JUST DON’T GET IT!!??
Sure they products are of high quality. But this overpriced high quality? You must be brainwashed (a big thing in my household)
i love that Apple is going for an AR/VR focus. Yet I don’t understand why they even think they can compete with smaller companies (which IMO have a better price to quality/visual correlation). Is it just arrogance? What do you think?
3 grand and $50 to make
Captain Duh Fuq apple makes things for the head airpods. Saying looks like ski goggles already implies they have the elastic head band. Oh I’m sorry I mean “STRAP ON ” it. CNET sucks and so does their reviewers
Just can’t stop saying strap on huh ya dirty girl
Ridiculous.
Uh oh, get ready to buy diamonds in VR games
But its not, Apple’s biggest problem is their locked eco-system. This devices is going to be a niche product because it won’t work with PC software. At least Oculus lets you use the link cable to use your PC as a better processor.
I’ll buy it, money is not a problem when it comes to fun
“This headset is going to be really, really expensive.” Well yes, this is Apple, that is why I dont use them lmfao
As he was only reviewing Apple AR/VR Headset (maybe / with no ETA),
he undermined potential of Microsoft Hololens 2, which recently bagged US military contract for whopping $20B for new decade, yikes 😳!
Put the Vr headset down my man, your eyes look like they are behind your head with those thick lenses.
Really informative video thank you.
IT giants are violating user’s privacy. Maybe you would like some VR googles that scans your house?
Yeah, but terms of use don’t allow them to use your data.
What about NSA. It requests data from big IT giants. Do they have to follow company TOS?
I am curious. What would Edward Snowden say about this technology.
Wide Peripheral vision is the most important.
Just buy quest
Why can’t apple just make something like Samsung gear vr where I can use my iPhone as part of the headset??
Oh that’s right money
$400
wonder how they will fit all this in a lightweight hedset
3:50 Those looked like Palpatine’s eyes.
If it’s anyone that could really setup a benchmark device, that is definitely apple.
8K and a small screen.… High ppi… BEST SCREEN
Rent this out as a demo at mall…but problems are pandemic sanitizing, etc not great for OCD compulsive cleaning egos…Can “you” live with uncertainty? A 40k price point should keep it out the hands of…
Apple is doomed on this one! LMFAO! Decent VR requires 90FPS, and no phone can push that. And VR will not take off until the cost of a headset hits about 100.00. This headset is going to cost 3,000.00. Again Apple proves just how not to do tech.
This video got my subscription 👍🏼 great information
I believe this could be a bigger part of the future, but running along side the phone. A headset or glasses especially can’t fit the necessary radios (cellular and Wi-Fi), processor, and high end cameras. Having something that you can just pull out of your pocket with reliable batteries, screens, and cameras will have a place. Replacing something that you bring with you in a pocket or bag with something that fits on your head (that is not too bulky) would not really be feasible. The smartphone replaced other things you would carry with you.
if the resolution is brilliant, making it easy to have multiple PC desktops in VR for actual real world work without straining to read text, if the headset is light and comfortable and can be worn for 8 hours… people will buy it
brain implants
Maybe that sounds good, but Apple products only work on other Apple products. They are too proprietary with their products and very costly — 3000 dollars — what do they think money grows on trees. So much for their mass apple users not getting this product.
Sorry, not for me being a PC user.
Here’s what I want with this headset to justify me buying this apple headset
One mandatory one would be a bonus
the mandatory thing would be COMPATIBILITY WITH VRCHAT
SERIOUSLY if I’m gonna buy an 3000 dollar apple VR headset I WANT TO HAVE THE OPTION OF TRADING MY OCULUS QUEST FOR IT
But I’ll only do that if the apple headset is compatible with ALL of VRCHATS CONTENT
(the quest is locked out of most of vrchats worlds and avatars because the quest can’t handle PC based worlds)
If the apple VR can handle all of VRCHAT apple could literally OWN THE VR HEADSET MARKET
Having all of VRChats content is NOT mandatory for me to buy the headset IT MUST HAVE VRCHAT
I know nobody will see this but, I remember scrolling past this video thinking it was some clickbait now it’s actually true 😂 I stood corrected
Interesting to watch this in 2023 on the day that the Apple Vision Pro is officially released! You actually predicted several of the features as well as the price!
