ATLANTIC CITY HAS So much potential to be similar to Vegas. It needs huge billionaire investors to change it from ghetto TO AMAZING
The fact that Caesar’s Palace is still standing after almost 60 years and one of Caesar Entertainment’s biggest revenue streams today just shows how important and iconic the establishment is to Vegas. Their room rates are still among the most even with the new state of the art casinos plopping up. Their room designs are beautiful and their suites are even more stunning. I’m glad they were always able to renovate when needed, but still able to keep it within the theme and time. Caesar’s Palace is more iconic than the Bellagio and Paris hotel in my opinion. Here’s to another 60 years of Caesars, long live the King!
Nothing beats these classic Edward Herman narrative documentaries. Certainly learned as much from these that I did from school.
This was aired back in January of 1996 😮!!!…I was 14 years young..😢.….27 years ago.
Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel (February 28, 1906 – June 20, 1947) was an American mobster who was a driving force behind the development of the Las Vegas Strip.
Siegel was influential within the Jewish Mob, along with his childhood friend and fellow gangster Meyer Lansky, and he also held significant influence within the Italian-American Mafia and the largely Italian-Jewish National Crime Syndicate.
Described as handsome and charismatic, he became one of the first front-page celebrity gangsters.
The Flamingo casino has been one of my favorite casinos to go to forever. I started playing craps at the Flamingo over 30 years ago and next to poker is my favorite gambling game. Shalom
50k a week in the 50s 60s is crazy most people maybe made 300 a week .
It’s true.… if, on vacation, our family didn’t have so much fun in Atlantic city then going to vegas would not have been so high on our priority list.
I think this documentary romanticies Las Vegas too much. Yeah , its a wonderful city for artists and entretaiment in all forms (and the arqhitecture of the city is so wonderful…) but we are forgetting about the hundred and thousands of homeless people living in the cannals of the city , not to forget the many criminals that take refugee there
gambling is the appropriation of Indian culture
Its funny cause all the family fun stuff is now out… Dancing nude girls are back in…
This is coming from someone who lives in vegas. I recently played RDR2 and it got me curious of how my town was created and what it was like back then. Im glad i got to learn about my home, great video!
What a horrible city!! I was there about 8 years ago, there was used needles all over sidewalks and trash all over the place.
It’s interesting that now Vegas has returned to more risqué adult entertainment & away from family friendly entertainment. It still has entertaining for families but Vegas realized the adult stuff brought more customers & more money.
This is a great documentary of Vegas. Being a Vegas native who still lives here, I wonder what the history books will say about Vegas in the 2020’s. Quite a lot has changed since this episode aired.
To bad all those old school casinos were destroyed for modern ugh new Vegas sucks now the fees just to get their
Vegas was ruined by the big corporations. They rip you off at every turn. Pay for parking, $50 buffets, overpriced shows, etc. When the Mafia ran it, you could afford it.
Went on my first trip to Vegas last year, and im going back again in 5 months. I cannot wait. i love the life there. Seriously debating if i want to move out there, to get out of the snow here in the midwest.
I grew up in Houston, Texas, but when I was in Vegas, it was like the old TV show “Fantasy Island”. It was mind-blowing.
A City of Losers — made for Losers . not even counting the Gross waste of electricity and water …
Wish history channel wasn’t so obsessed with aliens and oak Island and went back to productions like these
»»> WATCHED THE WHOLE SICKNING SHOW, NOW I HAVE TO ““VOMIT””, VEGAS
Las Vegas back then: glamorous, elegant, dazzling!
Las Vegas now: trash, filth, pornographic, lifeless.
