After a few months with Aventon’s Commuter e‑bike, CNET’s Jeff Bakalar and Logan Moy will have a hard time ever returning to standard bikes. With its impressive performance, top-of-the-line build quality and generous payload capacity, the Commuter is a compelling package.

You’re not going to get any fitter with an electric bike are you
Its a great bike but I seen better bikes with a smaller frame with all the “bells and whistles”. Especially living and commuting around NYC, like you said, not practical if you live in an apartment
Here’s why…I’m lazy
Like riding a bike was hard… omg you people are sad and pathetic. Hope aliens come and force us all to run a mile to get rid of the weak
If you’re looking for something in the $800‑1000 range then check out the Lectric XP. You can see an unboxing and review on my channel!
You start by saying you needed to exercise during the pandemic and were happy about the ebike. Then you talk about how it does the work for you with the motor .….
I am use to paying $100 for a used bike. This costs way to much. Maybe $500 or $600.
Thank you for the in-depth review..!!
It’s tech like this that makes me wish I had the physical ability to ride a bike…or walk for that matter.
Jeff Bikealar
wtf is a mile? use normal measurement units
Hold up, so it is a big and heavy bike, that you can charge so that it becomes easier to ride? Easy like in a regular light-weighted bike?.…
Thanks for the introduction of ebike.
Why e bikes in the u.s are soooooo bad like what
These really make the commute much more enjoyable
Nobody ever talks about how much for maintenance when you take them to a Bikeshop? If every bikeshop knows or works on these bikes
Me too! Tinkered with electric motors for bikes starting in 1995, then electric RC helicopters, electric lawnmower, electric car. We are in the future!
Lights are easy, gotta have it and don’t forget the horn. I started with 120 decibels but it was too loud, scaring pedestrians so bought another one at 117 db
cool video 🙃
Love the DŌST ebike I bought last year.
Problem is that it is darn expensive. I got a foldable one with 800 with 16 in tires with rear suspension but without the shimano gears. Good one but normall one (not ebike oc the same kind would cost only 200 dollars…
E bikes are especially great for people who have fiscal issues but would love to have some form of exercise.
wow this bike is sooooooo cheap , compare it to the Netherlands, a good e‑bike costs at least 2500 euro, the bike you have is a speedpedelec with 28 miles per hour, these bikes costs easily here 5000 to 10000 euro
Electric bikes are cool but bike theft is very common and a D lock isnt going to prevent it, so anywhere you go with it better have secure storage otherwise its getting stolen. Also if using a bike for exercise then an electric one isnt going to help, it will get you outside but all the hard work is being done by the battery and not your legs.
Nah, the fact that without pedal assist this bike is slow and heavy tells me enough about how the manufacturer approached electrification of the bike. It has to be just as good without power help. Otherwise, hard pass.
i need that ebike
Barely any e bikes in eu have suspension why is this?
The prices of ebikes are so absurd in West. I can get a really good 250 CC motor bike at 1500$ in India
I went with the Ride 1 Up 500 series. 1400 bucks but worth it.
Solution to being inactive is…buying an electric bike that barely needs any paddling??
This video offers not one word on why choose an e bike over a regular bike. It is just an ad for one model.
E bikes are alright for lazy or compromised people. A proper cyclist wouldn’t even look at one. I am 62 and still put out more power on average over an hour than a legal UK e — bike and because the bikes I ride are much lighter than an e- bike with a motor, can go faster with that power also. The other thing is hard peddling keeps you warm which is absent on electric bikes.
The Seth Rogen of ebikes
Vanmoof S3 review
I would own an e‑bike if I were filthy rich like a celebrity.
They really should have put on a light, for sure. Also, the trip distance resets every time you turn off the battery. Totally defeats the purpose of having an A and B trip distance.
I’m lured in by e‑bikes/mopeds every time, but then I quickly remember that Orange County is complete trash and not safe for cycling.
Spend $2k, and get s Vanmoof S3. It’s been an amazing get-around-town’er for me.
i liked that, here nerd ur sipport
Arrow 11 is the best 48v 26ah 750 watts motor, insane
😩US ebikers are so lucky.…In boring UK, the power output is limited to 250w and 15mph. Plus you MUST peddle it to get the motor assist.
What’s the price of that bike
Electric bikes are dumb, they cost north of a thousand dollars!!! Just buy a motor scooter like a Vespa or a small motorcycle, at least it takes 2 minutes to refuel/recharge compared to six hours.…and you can ride it on the highway
Damn 1600 great deal..
Say you’re Seth Rogen without saying you’re Seth Rogen.
i wish ebikes had security features. like disable the battery completely without NFC or bluetooth start button on your phone, which requires registration and activation through an app. it would also make it easier to track the location once the thief takes it. these things are easily stolen in NYC.
