Apple AirTags and the Tile Mate, Pro, Slim and Sticker are part of a growing category of Bluetooth trackers. You attach them to an item so you always know where it is. If you lose the item, you can use an app to locate it. But as similar as AirTags and Tile trackers may seem, they’re actually quite different.

I have an expensive bike, which I unfortunately can only use Tile for as I have a Samsung phone. I have found that compared to Airtags, Tile Stickers can’t be hidden inside your seat tubes or front fork tubes, as they block signal transmission. This is a problem as that only leaves outer areas, like underneath the seat, etc to attach the Sticker to. Here bikes are mostly stolen by the homeless and drug addicts. They are getting smarter about removing parts that might get them caught. Airtags can be hidden down inside tubes. So, they’re a better anti-theft bet. I’m going to look into Samsung Smart Tags.
I wanted to get an AirTag to hide in my backpack in case it gets stolen. But if I understand correctly… if the thief has an iPhone — it will alert them that there is a tag tracking them and they can disable it ?????
AirTag is a piece of Junk construction is not as great , very difficult to replace the battery and a bit hard to setup . I have many apple products but this is just not top notch , I lost one and could never find it .
I am in the process of switching from Tile to AirTag. My primary reason for doing so is the network. There are iPhones all over the place, but there aren’t Tile users all over the place. Also, Tile only works if the Tile app is running in the background. I don’t think it would work even if a Tile user was nearby if that user wasn’t presenting running the app. A secondary concern is the Tile “feature” of being able to ring my phone with a button press is actually quite annoying. My keychain and wallet often trigger just sitting in my pocket.
The disadvantage I see is that AirTag doesn’t refresh location as often as Tile seems to, and Tile shows a location history so I can track not just where it is, but where it’s been. I will miss that functionality. However, overall, I have decided that the most important thing is being able to find my items when they’re lost, and AirTag (I believe) will do a better job of that due to the more robust network.
I heard a rumor that these things have subscription fees. True or False?
WHICH ONE.. to track a metal-box POD (storage container) during a TEN DAY cross country move? Does Air Tag still sound alarm after three days?
Hey! I enjoyed your video! Well, I am only familiar with Tile. It has saved me many times when I lost my phone and keys. But I’m still wondering which would be better to track my luggage, the apple air tag or the Tile. By the way, I’m a die hard iPhone user if that makes a difference.
Tile is junk.
samsung FTW.
I’d like to see tile compete with Apple. I’ll get a tile as my small contribution. 🙂
I just want to be clear, Are you saying Tile can only be picked up by other people who “have the Tile app on their phone” ? If people near your Tile [do not have] the Tile app installed on their phone then it will not pick it up?
I live in Spartanburg
How do you learn to turn off the notification so the car thief doesn’t know an AirTag is following them??? Doesn’t that defeat the whole purpose?? You don’t WANT the thief to know they’re being followed!
The Air Tag has a magnet.
Do not buy any of these, they are absolutely F’n useless. Like, 100%
It takes forever to get them setup, paired, and configured right and when you do… they are still 100% usless. They will not help you find anything at all.
If they were designed right, they way they should work is you press a button on one, and it would beep them all until yo pressed the button on them all to quiet them. Simple, direct, zero setup. This is not how they work at all. Your tiles will become unstcuk off your devices, and you’ll spend your time trying to find your tiles, nto your devices which you haen’t lost.
I give these the most useless smart device award ever. Alexa’s were 50% useful, ANdrois Smart watches were at least 10% useful, but these airtags and tiles are 0% useful for anything at all. They just flat out do not work well enough as advertised to be useful in a real world case scenario. Work fine on a table with engineers sitting around testing them ont hat table or in a single rom, but that’s it.
The Apple AirTag warns the person that you’re following that you’re following them well, the Samsung tile doesn’t do that.
thank you Sir
Double tapping the tile will not ring the phone after the phone has been asleep for several minutes. It doesn’t matter if the tile has set right next to the phone for the sleep time. You have to open the phone then the tile will work. Kind of pointless if you’re trying to find the phone.
I spent hours trying to remedy this problem. I have worked with tech support at amazon ( they did everything they could.) No one including Amazon can get a hold of anybody from tile, because they suck. There are falsely advertising their product. It appears to me that Amazon is helping them.
I have found multiple other people with this problem. But none of they’re negative reviews show up on amazon. It appears Amazon is censoring reviews.
Don’t buy this product.
My tile barley rings when its 10 feet from me under my bed.… hope airtags are better
The AirTag is bullsh*t
I just got an apple AirTag, they don’t work as neat as tiles do tho…
Apple airtag =better integration.
How finite is the locating feature? Will either tell me to go ten feet then, i.e. turn left 6 feet? etc?
I use both together. I find that they offer complementary features. AirTags are better integrated in iOS while tile gives you location history which is incredibly helpful whenever you need it. I have them both attached to my tracked objects and I love it.
Tile community is bad due to their app which should run non stop on your phone with all permissions on. As a user of tile product for last 4 years I found my staff faster then tile community. Cause android users not running this app on background day and night. To be honest who wants that? It is drain your battery quick. My decision was to sent 4 tiles to bin and get the airtags.
Nothing is good, if you leave a key within 3–6 feet , the air tag or tile should be alarm it right away. Because phone, key ‚wallet should be together at all time . Easy function no one invented
I just tried diving into the Tile ecosystem.
EVERY SINGLE DECISION POINT on the way, they got wrong. RMAing them now, 2 days in.
Honestly don’t know how they’re even staying in business.
I have both on every item. Lol. I like the reverse phone finder feature and loud speaker on Tile but prefer the location finder features of AirTag. Both have pros and cons. Someday perhaps there will be a better option.
