Seriously, no Futurama jokes?
Blowing up the same 6G6 radio pentode over and over was hysterically funny.
Me my big genius moment realizing Skittles are just jelly beans shaped round.
My dad used to tell me about going to the 1930’s NYC Worlds Fair as a kid and seeing the first TV.
Said no one ever thought that watching movies in a box would ever take off but they couldn’t wait till they got one of those flying cars !
American children should have been taught to make televisions
I remember in 1959 watching a black n white TV with only 3 channels

My dad built and sold the first television in Vicksburg MS from a Heathkit “kit” that he ordered from New York. I think it was 1941. There were no TV stations in the area. He then had to build an antenna tower that was 118 ft tall to pickup a station out of New Orleans. I can imagine he was as proud as Philo when he got a picture. His TV and appliance store is still in bussiness today. Established in 1936.
Finally some good programming, loved the show with the transcontinental railroad building.
Is that Captain Disillusions voice???
Everything was impossible until someone did it.
Thank you so much @History Channel for this series!! Im a 2nd grade teacher, and one of our units is Then and Now. With this series, Im able to show my students how these everyday items came to be!
My father came home one day in 1965 with a new Zenith 20″ portable television. Portable because it could carried by the strap that was attached to the top of it.
The thing weighed a ton. And the really amazing thing about it was that it was remote controlled! I couldn’t believe it! We watched a lot of Twilight Zone and Outer Limits episodes together on that tv. RIP Dad. 💖
Unfortunately there are people that steal ideas of other ones. Farnsworth was destroyed completely when stole his idea. If you have a great brainstorm, produce a document that prove you are the owner.
Sad thieves get the fame. The show on Netflix about titans were better
And it’s all thanks to Tesla. All hail Tesla.
Fax Machines
Invented by the French
Ugh
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen actual history on the History Channel. Pretty neat, the re-enactment shots are great
Whose the contributor at 2:03?
Telly was invented by Scotsman 🏴
Farnsworth was ONE of the tv inventors. As far as the British are concerned John Logie Baird was the first TV inventor.
This clears up confusion. Us Brits take credit for inventing television and so do Americans. I understand why now.
This certainly does not live up to the quality of other Machines the Built America episodes I’ve seen. The laboratory scenes are hilariously anachronistic, and don’t bear much relation to reality. It’s as though they either didn’t research beyond Wikipedia and/or put no money into the scenes beyond the costumes. Disappointing treatment for a major contributor to TV technology.
What is this heist music
