How do you feel about the port situation on the new ThinkPads?
So far the only thing that’s exciting about this is the 16 : 10 aspect ratio. I miss this type of workspace. 16:9 never felt right to me.
Lenovo’s latest batch of AMD Thinkpad laptops are unable to boot anything but the Windows operating system by default.
This (redesigned) model comes with an AMD Rembrandt chip paired with Microsoft Pluton security co-processor.
“Trying to boot Linux from a USB stick failed out of the box for no obvious reason, but after further examination the cause became clear – the firmware defaults to not trusting bootloaders or drivers signed with the Microsoft 3rd Party UEFI CA key,”
Be careful to buy the latest model, if you were planning to run Linux on it.
These are not ThinkPad…
Talk about dilluting your brand to a point it makes no sense. Other than 19:10 aspect ratio and amd cpus not a single change is for the better
I own everything Mac but I’ve always drooled over a Thinkpad Carbon
What’s with the huge camera thingy?
Nice laptop and then you go and mess it up with AMD. Next!
Keyboard sounds nice and solid. Did you get key wobble like on older ones? USB C to external monitors via 4k. Always been a business unit. Interesting and sleek. They are catching upto the Apple skeelness.
My favourite keyboard is the IBM Butterfly
X1 thing still the king!!!
Lenovo missed a sale of the 16 inch because of the lack of ports.
I think if they put new AMD Ryzon series on some of other thinkpad series, like X series, it would be great. My favorite thinkpad keyboard is x220T keyboard.
This literally shouldnt be called a thinkpad when people think lf a thinkpad they think 1. Amazing Keyboard 2. Upgradability 3. Ports 4. Ruggedness and this laptop has none of those, that trackpoint is the only thinkpad thing about it, they should rename it or smth because this isnt a thinkpad
I think it’s USB C‑4 port, not 3
If the M1 Macbook Air didn’t exist for $800 brand new, this might be a good option. But it does. So this isn’t good lol
Soldered RAM shuts me down. It’s not a ThinkPad. If Lenovo thinks he can fool the genZ…
There is still the other ThinkPads. Work never provided me ThinkPads or MacBooks. HP 😝So 🤬the entitlement class. Price is more competitive months later. Near base model with 6850H and no extra GPU and OLED display. And dropping Ubuntu on it sounds appealing.
God, hope those stupid half height up / down arrow keys don’t make it to the “proper” thinkpads. As a dev, if this came in a 14″ and had better keyboard, I’d be all over it.
Apparently the touchpad is more accurate and yes customizable, but about the keyboard, I guess I’ll see in the coming days when my z13 comes in.
