Sony LinkBuds Review: A Shocking And Surprising Design

Open earbuds with an innovative ringed design weren’t exactly what I was expecting from Sony, but here the they are. As weird as the LinkBuds may seem at first glance, they’re an intriguing alternative to Apple’s third-gen AirPods. They’re particularly good for Android users looking for a pair of lightweight, comfortable buds without tips that you’d have to jam in your ears.

The problem with hidden ear buds is they just look like hearing aids. Not that it’s bad. But I think the ones that look like obvious headphones by keeping that original shape tend to win.
I think it’s really important that open buds are a huge benefit and category for runners/bikers.
It wouldn’t be so difficult to put some bungs in those little holes. If like me, you’re a bit antisocial you don’t want to hear or talk to anybody! Block them off!!!
I love these. I just ordered a pair yesterday because I’ve been wanting open back earbuds for the longest time. I usually listen to music either with my desk monitors or in ear monitors. When I’m walking around or doing stuff around the house, I usually just play music or podcasts from my phone speaker because I hate closing myself off from the world
These buds can actually produce some quite nice sound quality, but they do also reveal how awful the sound quality of some sources are even on well known albums.
Some of the best music clips I’ve heard believe it not come from Instagram for some reason. Sound quality can be very high.
I think you miss the idea of those and marketing other products.
I bought these and I really like them until I went back to use my AirPods Pro and I was won over really made me realize how uncomfortable the link buds are
04:36 I expect to see people start slapping themselves if the sensor is not working properly
The Soundpeats Air3 should not be ignored in the open earbud segment. In fact, now that they have app support and give you the ability to noticeably bump up the bass, they’re easily louder and more rich-sounding than the AirPods 3, at just a fraction of the price.
“They have an actual name you can easily remember and not some fucken model number”
I like that concept of open music source, because if I need the active noise canceling I’ve the ‘old’ WF-1000XM3 for that.
But in my office, I need to pay attention to phone calls, computers, etc and, does it fit for that?
Anyway, I like the fact that my voice can be heard well because with my WF not very well (yes like metallic and far from the micro) and maybe due the ANC so isn’t great in a noisy train or crowded station or even worse, in a noisy and crowded train station…
So maybe will think about that headphones, but not as supplementary so yes as complementary ones
It would be fun for Sony to design a feature to lower or increase the volume by slapping your own face once or twice.
Why couldn’t these have active noise cancellation? I’d assume most people won’t own multiple pairs of earbuds. It would be nice to have even if it’s not as perfect as other options.
I got these yesterday and so far I like them a lot. They sound pretty good listening to Spotify and stay in well while jogging.
Hope this is the wave of the future because having burs jammed into you ear canals health-wise isn’t good. Or blocks your ears’ ability to constantly clean the ear canals. People will develop allergies and ear infections. I don’t have an ear wax problem, but do have an allergy problem.
Either way, samsung beans are awful
Lower sounds are literally harder to achieve because they are fully open
Great review. I saw others that kept trying to compare them to noise canceling buds. Well that makes no sense. Glad your comparison was about other features and the ups and downs of open back. Not the fact that it doesn’t block sound haha some people need to know what they reviewing before they review. I am really interested in these now. Thanks again.
