You could sit­ting in your chair in your house and believe it or not your mov­ing. As the mat­ter of fact you will nev­er be in the same place in space again. And you dont even have to move. It is utter­ly impos­si­ble for it to hit the plan­et the sec­ond time around. Much less the first space is vast.

wait does­nt earth have its mag­net­ic field the pro­tects us from cos­mic radi­a­tion and stuff like that so would it just do the same for the gam­ma ray burst as well.

I would think it would be incred­i­bly unlike­ly that the beam of the sec­ond wave of par­ti­cles from the GRB would actu­al­ly cause an issue on Earth. There would have been sub­stan­tial move­ment rel­a­tive to each oth­er for the Solar Sys­tem and the GRB source, so it would like­ly miss entire­ly. Earth would have to both be at just the right point in its orbit and would need to have the oppo­site hemi­sphere from the first burst now fac­ing the direc­tion of the sec­ond burst.

Love watch­ing these but they said all elec­tron­ics would be fried after a GRB strike, yet ppl are post­ing on social media 😂 don’t believe every­thing you watch

With the Ama­zon rain­for­est in the non-impact zone, the ozone lev­el would be some­thing like 50.0000000001% or maybe as high as 50.00001%. It would be the high­est in the area around the rain­for­est as the trees would be able to give a bit more oxy­gen, and some of it would make it up to the ozone lay­er– mean­ing Man­aus could see ozone lev­els as high as 53%. Seat­tle is also near­by a rain­for­est — anoth­er place where ozone lev­els would like­ly be higher. 

Indone­sia is on the periph­ery– the far­ther east you get, the bet­ter. That’s anoth­er sur­viv­ing rain­for­est. Jakar­ta could get lucky thanks to that. 

With two of the three most inge­nious cul­tures still alive (The Amer­i­cans and the Japan­ese; unfor­tu­nate­ly, we would lose the Ger­mans), there’d be quite a bit of hope: com­bined with the sur­vival of #4 on the list, South Korea, and #5 in Tai­wan, maybe we’d be able to not just sur­vive, but get civ­i­liza­tion going again (albeit at the end of the cen­tu­ry as it would take that long to get things back to a lev­el where it was­n’t just about mak­ing sure human­i­ty survives).

Yeah, I’m an opti­mist. These sit­u­a­tions demand opti­mism, though.
