Why an iPhone Subscription Plan Is a Great Idea
CNET,Technology,News,Tech,Review,mobile phone,apple,smartphone,iPhone subscription
You may soon be able to pay for your iPhone the same way you pay for Netflix, Hulu or Apple Music. A plan like this could help Apple inch closer to its goal of eventually creating an iPhone completely from recycled materials, since it could lead to more trade-ins.

This is a terrible idea for consumers.
This is a quietly powerful move. It will quickly consume the entire market. Everyone of the negative comments below is missing the big point here, residual value is as relevant to smartphones as it is with cars. With the advent of a mean price of $1000 per item and an upgrade cycle of a completely new and improved device every year, depreciation of the asset is rapid if not instant. By leasing the asset the depreciation isn’t an issue anymore. There is so little retained value in high end phones as against the rapid upgrade cycle it makes no sense to make it a capital purchase and take the massive loss in value. I guarantee you, everyone with significant liquidity will prefer to lease rather than purchase and this will quickly become a dominant means of owning a high value smartphone in 24 to no more than 36 month terms. It’s going to sweep the industry. This is bank folks. Like it or not. This is big.
Remember how the WEF played down: YOU WILL OWN NOTHING
Subscription is always way more expensive. I will not pay any subscription for anything. There is always alternatives. I will just leave the Apple ecosystem. I will ALWAYS own, and never subscribe.
as with leases for cars its bs. a nice option for some maybe but from a financial and environmental standpoint keeping a device till it no longer meets your needs is best and this means easy affordable repair options and long software support apple is decent on the last one but needs work on the former
Unsubscribed
I’d rather own my devices than pay for its subscriptions, it’s downright stupid !
well when subscription does come, it will be end of 12 long years of using iPhone devices.
Ppl realise they don’t have to do this yeah? You’ll still be able to buy your iPhone. I buy mine in instalments anyway so if it works out cheaper a month I might do this
I couldn’t care less about e waste if they actually cared they’d make devices repairable the subscription service will be fine as long as you still have the option to buy or make payments if this is an addition awesome if not then I will be going back to android
“…As normal as leasing your car”?!?! If car leasing is as normal as she makes it sound, consumers need better financial education!
Basically, Apple is going to start leasing their phones and you have to return them in a pristine condition less “wear and tear”
This is pretty stupid
Never will i do subscriptions never. Why pay for something for years when u can pay off your phone and have it for years. I don’t need a new phone every year because the change is not Is not alot to upgrade. This is a money grab form apple shame on you
Renting a phone is throwingyour money away in the garbage I rather buy the phone and own it that’s a scam
This subscription service will fail….. nobody will fall for this
Rather own it. It’s. A no no
Goverment don’t want u to own nothing. This is all going the wrong way

A one time (high) fee for assited transision can be charged (suicide as a service) which will be offered to your loved ones as subscription.*
The deadline is 2030.
The next step is your mobile phone. The last step is food.
