I’ve nev­er seen your videos before but I was smil­ing right away at your ener­gy! Very fun and infor­ma­tive. Astro is adorable but… *mutes Astro’s mic* seems pret­ty useless.

Looks like an expen­sive toy and noth­ing more. All the tech heads will get it I’m sure and then I’m 3 months it will be off in some cor­ner with dead bat­ter­ies because the own­er will have got­ten over the, “new shiney”.

Ama­zon is a Sur­veil­lance Com­pa­ny first and fore­most. They are watch­ing every­thing 👁️

Things real­ly haven’t changed much for two wheeled “robots” that “patrol” (snoop) around your house. You have lit­tle stor­age bins or trays that affixed by some per­son to deliv­er foods, drinks, what­ev­er some per­son choos­es to place in or on the bin/tray. It can’t real­ly do any­thing use­ful for the own­er. One thou­sand dol­lars to get an R/C toy with some motion and ultra­son­ic sen­sors? With a tablet for a “face”? This over­priced spy is a trip­ping haz­ard. An intrud­er sees this and they’ve dis­able it by kick­ing it across the room. Or, know­ing how much they cost they steal it.

With­out Wi-Fi this thing is even more useless.

I remem­ber the 1980s and 1990s had sim­i­lar “robots” except some of those actu­al­ly had a tele­scop­ic robot­ic arm that could at least manip­u­late and grasp things. Oth­ers had 6–8 legs and could use them to press but­tons on ele­va­tors, had stereo cam­era vision, had micro­phones, could walk up and down stairs, could climb into or out of the tail bed of a pick­up truck, and could be fit­ted with arms to manip­u­late and inter­act with their sur­round­ings. This par­tic­u­lar robot was used to mon­i­tor radioac­tive acci­dent sites, to con­trol valves and such, and to report back to the home office. It was semi-autonomous but had full remote con­trol oper­a­tions too.

it looks cool Im still on the fence on if I want to spend $1000 on this. I just got my invite yesterday.

All you need to do to enjoy this prod­uct is give up any and all sense of privacy.

Ama­zon wants to keep its eye on every­thing we do and say…that’s a fact!

I love the idea of a house robot. But back in real­i­ty, it’s full of cor­po­rate sur­veil­lance for tar­get­ed adver­tis­ing, and any per­son­al­i­ty it has is pre script­ed gim­micks that get bor­ing 5 min after doing them.

As if Ama­zon’s infor­ma­tion gath­er­ing abil­i­ties weren’t inva­sive enough. They’ll have a lidar-enabled map of your house­hold as well as per­mis­sions which per­mit object and per­son recog­ni­tion and the oblig­a­tion to share this with Ama­zon in order to use.

Cool robot!!!! Would be a great addi­tion to my robots EMO Coz­mo & Vector. 😁
