Edi­son was no where near a bril­liant inven­tor he wasn’t even an engi­neer just a businessman

I am an Edi­son fan I’ll see this doc­u­men­tary to see what real­ly happened.

The way Rock­e­feller just adapt­ed to his down­fall and cre­at­ed some­thing even better..is just a true inspiration.

Just to hold on to his for­tune, Rock­e­feller was try­ing to squash elec­tric­i­ty in favor of his con­trolled kerosene. Think about how far behind in advanc­ing we would be if Rock­e­feller suc­ceed­ed. Kind of like how big oil is doing with alter­na­tive fuel .

Have anoth­er point i don´t under­stand. the pow­er­plant of the nia­gara falls. in the video they talk that this can light the entire north­east of the USA. On the oth­er hand they talk that still not was sure which of the two sytems the want to build in. But this can­not be. With DC you can sup­ply only short dis­tances. Not is pos­si­bel to sup­ply the entire North­east. With DC a great pow­er­plant no make sence.
So for my opin­ion with the con­struc­tion of this pow­er­plant was clear that it has to be AC.

It’s odd that’s these guys speak with such empa­thy about poor work­ing con­di­tions as if this coun­try wasn’t built on slavery.

Kids should learn about Tes­la at school.

Tes­la isn’t god and Edi­son wasn’t the dev­il.
It’s way more com­pli­cat­ed than “grrr Edi­son steal work”. Edison’s own con­tri­bu­tions are noth­ing to sneeze at in his field of busi­ness. Tes­la was many things, but charis­mat­ic was not one of them. You can make infi­nite ener­gy but you still need a way to sell it prac­ti­cal­ly to the mass­es. Many of both of Edi­son and Tesla’s “inven­tions” were more along the lines of improve­ments to exist­ing technology.

This is why I love sci­ence because even when peo­ple try to lie on your name and destroy your rep­u­ta­tion. You can still prove them wrong.

Fact: cre­ators almost always lose. The artist, the inven­tor, the cre­ative more often than not end up the biggest los­er. There is some­thing made avail­able to the cre­ative allow­ing them access to meta­phys­i­cal planes that are inac­ces­si­ble to the per­son who only seeks for prof­it, pow­er, or con­trol. Per­haps there is a quirk law of nature that rarely gifts one with both cre­ative and admin­is­tra­tive genius. In most mod­ern soci­eties but most trag­i­cal­ly in a cap­i­tal­is­tic one, the cre­ative los­es. Tes­la was­n’t moved by mon­ey. A per­son­al virtue per­haps… a fatal mis­take in a soci­ety devot­ed to mak­ing copi­ous amounts of, being judged by, and mea­sur­ing ones self by how much they’re worth. Mon­ey is the best pre­dic­tor we have of suc­cess- they say. Even by today’s stan­dards, Tes­la would still be con­sid­ered a los­er. Tragic

Edi­son was a hor­ri­ble soul; not an ounce of integri­ty. He was a male, not a man. Yes, he gave us a lot of things, but Tes­la was smarter, well inten­tioned and pro­vid­ed us bet­ter elec­tri­cal cur­rent, among oth­er bril­liant inventions.
