Hollywood star Kate Winslet’s first look pictures as the Na’vi warrior in James Cameron’s upcoming movie Avatar: The Way of Water have finally been revealed.
According to Variety, the pictures of her character, named Ronal, were published by a film magazine. The actor described Ronal as a “deeply loyal and fearless leader”.
Winslet, who will reunite with her Titanic director in this long-awaited sequel, will star alongside returning cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver, among others.
Speaking to the magazine about her character, the actress said, “She’s strong. A warrior. Even in the face of great danger and with an unborn baby on board, she joins her people and fights for what is dear to her: her family and her home.”
Disney’s official synopsis for the upcoming ‘Avatar’ sequel reads: “Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ begins to tell the story of the Sully family, and the troubles that follow them. the lengths they go to to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive and the tragedies they endure.”
For her role, Winslet learned to hold her breath underwater for the film, eventually breaking Tom Cruise’s record for the longest underwater breath hold in a feature film, Variety reported.
As for reuniting with Cameron so many years after ‘Titanic,’ Winslet told the magazine: “Jim and I are both completely different people now than we were 26 years ago. He’s calmer and I’m definitely more hyperactive now!”
Avatar: The Way of Water will be released by 20th Century Studios on December 16, 2022 in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam
