Have you ever realised later that you shouldn’t have sent that message on WhatsApp? As of now, WhatsApp gives users a limited time to delete any message — text, audio or a video — on the platform between one hour gap. But according to latest reports, the instant messaging platform is currently planning on allowing users to delete their texts that are two days old.
As per a report in WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned platform has started rolling out an update to a select group of Android users on the latest version of WhatsApp beta that allows them to delete messages from chats that were sent two days ago.
WhatsApp is planning on increasing the time limit to delete any text on chat from 1‑hour-eight minutes and 16 seconds to two days. According to reports, this was the initial plan during the development of the ‘delete text’ feature on WhatsApp.
The messaging platform rolled out the ‘delete message’ feature a while ago, which brought a sigh of relief for users as they could delete their text if there was an error. However, there was no option of retrieving those deleted messages.
Meanwhile, the tech giant is also working on an ‘Undo’ button which will retrieve your deleted messages in the chat on WhatsApp.
At present, the platform gives you two options for deleting the text: ‘Delete for me’ and ‘Delete for everyone’.
‘Delete for me’ means the text is deleted from the chat for the person using the feature, ‘delete for everyone’ makes the text disappear for all in the chat.
