Actor Ranveer Singh celebrates his birthday on July 6, turning a year older in his own quirky style. The talented star is ringing in his special day with wife Deepika Padukone in the US. The actor rose to stardom in 2010 with his very first project, Band Baaja Baaraat, opposite Anushka Sharma. He has a solid filmography including Ram-Leela, Bajirao-Mastani and Padmaavat.
On this birthday, we thought we’d share some lesser-known facts about B‑Town’s Bajirao:
Not many people know that veteran star Anil Kapoor and Ranveer are related. Shocked? Well yes they are. Ranveer happens to be the maternal cousin of actress Sonam and Rhea Kapoor. It’s a pleasant surprise, isn’t it?
The powerhouse Ranveer is popularly known as Ranveer Singh. However, his full name is Ranveer Singh Bhavnani. He reportedly dropped his surname, Bhavnani, believing the name would have been “too long, too many syllables”, downplaying his brand as a “saleable commodity”.
Ranveer was born in Mumbai to Jagjit Singh Bhavnani and Anju Bhavnani and has an older sister named Ritika Bhavnani. The actor first joined the HR College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai but soon discovered his love for the camera. He later went to the United States and received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, Bloomington. He stayed in the US for about four years.
Our Bollywood stud’s talent isn’t just limited to acting. Ranveer is known as a great rapper. In fact, he lent his voice to a little rap song in one of his movies called Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl. He has done a rap for several commercials he has acted in so far. The Durex condom ad and the Ching’s ad are some examples.
Shortly after his return from the US, Ranveer even got a job at an advertising agency. He reportedly worked for some time as a copywriter at O&M and J. Walter Thompson. He even worked as an assistant director before he got his big break in Bollywood.
Happy Birthday Ranveer Singh!
