They didn’t quite take care of it after built your Nero. Fiddles while the real umpire is made under world leader?
Air probably but several years from now but even robots have demise from lord
spartans were buggered while trained as boys
This so awesome!!!
Back when The History Channel was actually about showing history.
15:51 THIS! IS! ATHENS!!!
Spartan women 🔥
dang, i used to watch history channel stuff like this all the time as a kid.
and now i realize Kings and Generals, and Invicta have surpassed them in content
Invented logic, math and philosophy… white people think they invented the eath itself lol
24:31 So after knocking the enemy in the back and then hitting him with the edge of the shield, was the spinning really necessary?
I love learning about achient history
This is what “History” was before New York Times created its’ own.
Loved this show. Why did it only last one season? There are so many more battles they could have explained. Cancel a great show like this after a single season but let those hustlers from Oak Island be on for over seven years? Cancel Jurassic Fight Club after one year but have those snake oil salesmen from Ancient Aliens have been on for 19 seasons? SERIOUSLY?
Ok, ex head of military history at Ft. Knox. Nice drama, lots of BS.
Straight up.…Richard Gabriel is one of my heroes. I could listen to him for Years
Loved battle bc wish there was another season
This and thermopylae were the battles that cemented European identity.
Like this another, real history
This sounds alot like the Spartans 300 doesn’t it 😕
Why do the Persians wanna burn Athens? Worse then the Arabic.
That’s how it was just like from the movie 300 like this this is Sparta
Imagine fighting all day long with no break. Both arms in constant motion. Legs continually re-maneuvering on the battle field. Then, add wound after wound to the mix.
It was not easy or desirable, maybe, to be a warrior in those days.
Schinios beach thought they said skinniest beach lol
Um the thumbnail says the 300 battle and this was about Athens vs Persian Empire! This video wasn’t exactly what I was looking for but all and all a great informative video. I didn’t know how resilient the Athenians were in their fight against the Persians.
Long Live Sparta!!!!! Fools, Leonidas awaits.… “This is Sparta” !!!!! sorry, wrong video…
The Greeks are gonna die
not gonna ask why the athenians have shields with the spartan symbol but yeah sweet video
Start at 35 min for class usage
I had to double check the title of video. I got the content confused with spartans and Persians at Thermopolis 😊 👍
There are only 3 of these episodes now available to watch. Why is that?!? Makes zero sense. Episode 1,6,and 8 are all you can watch. All of these were extremely good. And I dare say episodes 2–5 were probably the best imo. Its a shame they Cancelled such a good series
40 years later? Thermopylae was 10 years later.
“army of Athens”
> shows lambdas on shields
Knew about the 26 mile runner who died uttering nike,
but not much else
of the actual battle and context. Thanks for this interesting and comprehensive presentation.
IT’S NOT U — BE — AH ! IT’S HE-VEE-AH FFS ! EU IS PRONOUNNCED AS EV IN GREEK. OI AS EE.
Wicker shields?
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Wait, so I’m confused now so the whole kicking the guy down the pit screaming this is Sparta and the whole fight afterwards all of that wasn’t really Sparta it was Athens ??? 🤯🤦♂️🤷♂️🤔
More Battle BC please History!!!
NIKE
I wonder if History Channel had to get permission from the movie “300” to replicate the styles used in this… I love it don’t get me wrong, but it’s pretty obvious ripoff from the movie.
God hates pornography 😢
My only criticism is showing greek hoplites and Persian infantry fighting out of formation when formation fighting was the number 1 tactic. Generally speaking once the formation has collapsed and men are fighting one on one then your side has lost. I lectured on this battle in high school I love marathon
Awesome.
The shield strike will split your nugget…
A little caveat to the story here. The real miracle of Marathon is the aftermath of the battle. That “forced march” back to Athens after the battle is the miracle of the story. That exhausted Athenian army had to jog the 25 plus miles that night, with all of their kit, to be waiting on the walls when the Persians arrived in the morning. Men motivated by love of their families, running back to their city to defend their wives and children is truly inspiring.
