Raksha Bandhan DATE 2022, MUHURAT: The beautiful festival of Raksha Bandhan, which celebrates the bond between siblings, is about a week away. Preparations are underway and brothers and sisters are busy buying gifts for each other. But the date and timing of Raksha Bandhan this year has caused some confusion among families wishing to celebrate the festival. Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Sawan. According to the Hindu calendar, Rakhi takes place on August 11 this time. But due to the shadow of the Bhadra period on this day – which is considered an inauspicious time – some people have decided to celebrate the Rakhi festival on August 12th. But there is also a time factor to this day. Find out the auspicious time and date of the festival below.
When is Rakshabandhan 2022
The full moon date of the month of Sawan starts at 10:39 AM on August 11 and ends at 7:05 AM on August 12. The festival of Rakhi can be celebrated on August 11th. But even on this day, Bhadra Kaal begins in the morning itself and ends at 8:51 p.m. Technically, rakhi can be tied after that. But in Hinduism it is believed that no auspicious work is done after sunset. Therefore, many sisters will not prefer to tie rakhi on the night of August 11th. Instead, many celebrate on the 12th. But remember that you must tie rakhi to your brothers’ wrists before 7:05 am on the morning of August 12th. “Traditionalists should observe on the 12th morning as Raksha Bandhan is always celebrated on the full moon day. A full moon tithi begins when the full moon begins sunrise time itself; and the 11th is not technically a full moon tithi,” says astrologer Anupam V Kapil.
According to astrology, Bhadra will stay all day on August 11th, hence it is not considered auspicious to tie rakhi during this time. But it is said that Rakhi can be bound during the time of Poonch Bhadra. Poonch Bhadra starts at 17:17 on August 11 and lasts until 18:18. It would be favorable to tie rakhi during this time.
