Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani met with Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray at his Matoshree residence in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Incidentally, the meeting between the two comes on a day when the Maharashtra cabinet approved a proposal to re-bid for tenders Dharavi Redevelopment Project with additional benefit.
The previous government of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), led by Thackeray, had held three meetings to get the much-delayed project off the ground. The Adani Group name has been in talks for this project ever since.
Thackay mentioned the state government’s decision to redevelop Dharavi in his speech at Nesco’s premises on Wednesday evening. “Our aim is to make Dharavi an important financial center in the country. Let me assure you all that Shiv Sena will make it a reality,” he said.
According to sources, the meeting between Adani and Thackeray, who are on friendly terms, was only for the exchange of greetings. Adani Group has some of its major commercial interests in Mumbai such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport which is operated by Adani Group while Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML) is one of the main energy utilities in Mumbai.
Thackeray-led Sena controls one of the largest unions at the airport.
