Bombay: Actor Ranveer Singh has a special request for his fellow Indians. On Friday, he took to Instagram and asked his followers to sign a petition calling for Indian Sign Language to be included in the Indian Constitution as the 23rd official language.
In his post, Ranveer wrote: “The link to the petition is live. Let’s make Indian Sign Language the 23rd official language of our Constitution. Support, sign, share.”
Here’s the post the actor shared:
Ranveer shared the story using the petition link. The petition, which Ranveer supports, was submitted by the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), which has called on the Home Office to take urgent steps to include Indian Sign Language (ISL) in the eighth schedule of the Indian Constitution. As the association seeks greater support, she has created a petition on Change.org urging people to make this change possible.
Ranveer’s proposal comes on the fringes of the International Day of Sign Languages, which is observed on September 23 each year. On the film front, meanwhile, Ranveer will star in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. He also has Rohit Shetty’s ‘Cirkus’ in his kitty.
