Madhuri Dixit is one of the judges on the famous dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 10. The actor recently took the stage with contestant Amruta Khanvilkar and her choreographer to dance to their hit song Dola Re Dola from the film Devdas. Madhuri was in a brightly colored striped dress as she joined the two dancers, who wore white and red saris paired with traditional jewelry like those worn by Madhuri in the original song. As the three danced to the song together, filmmaker and co-judge Karan Johar said, “Abhi tak Jhalak ka best moment (best moment of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa so far).” Nora Fatehi is the show’s third female judge.
When Colors TV shared the promo for the upcoming weekend episode on Instagram, fans asked if Amruta’s choreographer Pratik Utekar had been replaced by Ashish. Pratik is Amruta’s choreographer on the show but the actor was joined by Ashish Patil for the performance of Dola Re Dola. Ashish also wore a saree and jewellery, just like Amruta.
Meanwhile, Madhuri is also preparing for the release of her Prime Video movie Maja Maa. It is the story of a loving mother who unwittingly becomes a hurdle in her son’s marriage plans and challenges societal norms. Madhuri plays Pallavi, a woman who forms the backbone of her middle-class family. She plays the wife of Badhaai Ho actor Gajraj Rao in the film. It is directed by Anand Tiwari and will stream on Amazon Prime Video from October 6th.
“This film has everything a Bollywood film has, like laughter, seriousness and all the ingredients of a pot boiler. It has beautiful songs and foot-tapping music,” Madhuri said of the film. She said her character in the film was “resilient” and that her “powers of persuasion” were what attracted her to the project.
