How long until Ama­zon com­plains they aren’t hit­ting the met­rics and they can replace the robot? I bet there will be a red­dit page for AI robots eventually.

It’s move­ments look real­ly crude com­pared to stuff Boston dynam­ics has done. There’s no flu­id­i­ty and it walks way too slow. It’s got a ways to go still soft­ware wise, and maybe hard­ware too. I think part of the prob­lem is a lot of these humanoid robots have actu­a­tors that sim­ply stop when they aren’t used. But if you think about it that’s not how any joint on your body works. We are loose, we coast and car­ry momen­tum into move­ments and it makes bal­anc­ing eas­i­er. This needs to be worked into robots somehow

This is not good! Ama­zon can buy thou­sands of these and lay off humans. At 20K, if it last­ed for 3 years, do youn­re­aluze how much mon­ey they would save. 1 robot could replace 3 peo­ple, it could work a 24 hr shift. If 3 employ­ees cost 150K in salary, nev­er­mind ben­e­fits, that would be a 120K prof­it in Ama­zon’s pock­et. Thats just 1 robot work­ing 24 hrs and 3 employ­ees los­ing their jobs! 

Imag­ine you have one of these things in your home and it has it’s own “per­son­al­i­ty”, as sug­gest­ed. Now imag­ine it does­n’t like one of your chil­dren or it’s attract­ed to the hus­band or wife. What would hap­pen to that per­son? It has no sym­pa­thy or empa­thy, imag­ine that being used by law enforce­ment or to care for the sick or elder­ly, this is a recipe for danger.

Who will these robots replace? Fac­to­ry work­ers? Home health care work­ers? Wait­ers & Wait­ress­es? Housekeeping/ Hotel Staff? POLICE? YOU? Hope every­one is amused. You will not be for long. When they’re used for bio­met­ric sur­veil­lance, and more, you’ll wish you took a buck­et of water to the first one you saw. Mil­lions of them? Pow­ered by the same AI Musk is afraid of?
