Hands-on: Microsoft Surface Pro 9, Surface Laptop 5, Surface Studio 2 Plus

I’m sad this year has the least amount of SKUs and updates for the Lap­top, it seems. I won­der what it means for the future of the device.

Panay has been there since the begin­ning, he has had his ups and downs and so have I. I bought the Sur­face RT, Sur­face 2, Sur­face 4 and now the Sur­face 8. The RT was great but they let us down by ter­mi­nat­ing its life short­ly, the Sur­face 4 had hard­ware screen issues which was a dis­as­ter for many of us. I like the Sur­face 8, the bat­tery life is not great though. The sur­face has nev­er been my main com­put­er, I have always want­ed it to be but sad­ly some­thing is just not right.

Microsoft already have Xbox, I think there is no need for a gam­ing laptop

Good design…just lack pow­er on the hard­ware side. With apple, we are told to believe there is both pow­er and bat­tery life. Intel unfor­tu­nate­ly can’t keep pace!

I hoped for microsoft to bring a strong ARM alter­na­tive to the M1 snd M2 from apple. But after 2 years, this is just still not a seri­ous proces­sor to com­pete with apple. And its very expen­sive as well. Microsoft real­ly need­ed to bring out a banger prod­uct to com­pete. Bring devices to the users, this then forces devel­op­ers to port their soft­ware to ARM and so on…

2:42 — “How does a prod­uct adapt to you?” It does­n’t still wait­ing for an Intel Sur­face Pro with built-in LTE that I can buy as a consumer.

Mean­while, the Sur­face lap­top stu­dio got no refresh, which I think is priced slight­ly too high. I had one at my old job and I loved it.
For my COVID, “work from home” set­up I would put it in that weird mid­dle posi­tion, use an exter­nal blue­tooth key­board and mouse, and the screen was in a great posi­tion for me draw with the pen and white­board on Zoom calls with­out hav­ing to lean in awk­ward­ly. I could just move the key­board out of the way and pull the lap­top to the edge of the desk

at 1:02 it seems like you acci­dent­ly leaked a new sur­face lap­top stu­dio 2, with a stronger hinger and thin­ner design… (I’m assum­ing it’s a leak as to my knowl­edge there is no, well, knowl­edge of a new sur­face lap­top stu­dio and that design is com­plete­ly dif­fer­ent from the lap­top stu­dio we have now)
