A 25-year-old man, identified as Raj Gautam, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping a college student in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district, after which she died, police said. During interrogation, the accused told police that the victim was home alone when he went there and allegedly raped her. He also shared that he took two energy-boosting pills before committing the crime.
The victim, a sophomore, was found unconscious in the yard by her sister when she returned home. The family informed the police and they took the woman to a county hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead. The autopsy report confirmed rape and death due to excessive bleeding from shock and bleeding.
Police said Gautam continued to rape the victim even after she fought back. However, when she began bleeding from her privates, he became frightened and fled the scene.
Police found a conversation between the accused and the girl in which he tells her to come to the house and she refuses.
Police Commissioner Siddhartha Shankar told the PTI news agency that the victim’s father initially claimed that a 28-year-old neighbor and a 65-year-old woman were involved in the incident. Because of her allegation, the police arrested her. However, after Gautam confessed to the crime and was arrested, the two neighbors were reportedly given clean slips.
The victim’s parents told police that she was concentrating on her studies and wanted to become an IAS officer. The father informed PTI that he had taken out a loan for her career aspirations €1 lakh from the bank to get books.
