Emergency SOS via Satellite on the iPhone 14 is basically your 911 backup.
When Apple announced the iPhone 14 series, some of the biggest features were things you can’t see like an internal redesign that make repairs cheaper and easier, or tools that most people will hopefully neve have to use, like Car Crash Detection. One feature that stood out was Emergency SOS via Satellite which, when you or someone you love is stranded or injured and out of range of cell service, lets you use a satellite to text an emergency dispatcher. Apple invited us to a live demonstration, and we came away very impressed.
Apple’s new safety feature is now live in the US and Canada.

I hope that everyone aware about this feature will be moving forward and this will be how we are going to take calls in neat future 🎉
Nice feature to have on my 14pro
Same functions a the Garmin In Reach, nice that it’s on a phone.
Google Emergency SOS via Satellite 🛰 🛰 😃
Apple should launch this feature globally so that anyone in distress can use this feature given if this is so useful and works without failure.
So what do you press for “Whats the Emergency” questionaire if someone holds you up with a gun while you’re in the car, stealing your jewelry, which causes you to panic and hit the gas, crashing into a tree, breaking your leg and trapping you in the middle of nowhere and then your car catches fire?
“Some of the best features of these phones are things you can’t see or probably things you’ll never have to use, which is a good thing” — No, it’s not! 😂
pretty handy, I will use it of dog step on a bee ever again
And yet, I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max and yet not having the opportunity to use that service in South Africa 😭😩
Of course only available in the US this useless
Will never need it, hence I’ve got the iPhone 13 Pro
So in Horror movies there is no excuse for no cell signal to call for help.
I was wondering could you tell me or do you know if the MacBook Air with M1 chip is still worth getting and do you think the MacBook Air with M1 chip will get a lot of software updates?
My ❤
I think Starlink option should also be mentioned, when presenting satellite services to mobile phones. Starlink will be much better, in my opinion, because it will imitate ground mobile station and we will not need to have newest iPhone 🙂 However Apple was first to have this service available.
Imagine owning an Apple phone, I’m not that stupid
Im trying to get away from Apple I can’t wait for the Tesla phone to come out starlink would probably be the norm to talk through
As someone with a 14 pro max i tested the demo and found out i can’t use it in my yard because of the trees
why isn’t it free?
This is better then a garmin
This is really a great video but I am making huge profits on my investment since I started trading with Ms. Mayer Celine, her trading strategies are top notch
Everyone doesn’t have an iPhone 14 so what about us who don’t got one we can’t use this feature
Satellites, Right? Yet available only in the states and Canada 😁😁😁😁
Apple already has the emergency SOS on the IPhones pre-Apple 14 release. I have been in remote locations during MTB training where I crashed and the ESOS worked great. I don’t see value in the Satellite service. It would be nice if someone explained the difference between old version of ESOS versus the ESOS satellite version is trying to sell people today.
I wonder if it will work dialling Triple 0 (our emergency number) here in Australia. Every country has their own unique codes. Be so good if every country in the world and collaborated on Triple 0 (000) I travel a lot to many countries, and never know the code for which country I am in.
Very good informative video thanks CNET 🙂 love your videos.
So it turns out the 14 isn’t just “like the last iPhone” and Apple is in fact, [wait for it.…..] innovating.
