Win­dows Sand­box is a new light­weight desk­top envi­ron­ment tai­lored for safe­ly run­ning appli­ca­tions in iso­la­tion. Win­dows Sand­box has the fol­low­ing properties:

Secure — Uses hard­ware-based vir­tu­al­iza­tion for ker­nel iso­la­tion, which relies on the Microsoft Hyper‑V platform.

Effi­cient — Uses inte­grat­ed ker­nel sched­uler, mem­o­ry man­age­ment, and networking.

Pris­tine — Every start is from a clean image.

Win­dows Sand­box is ide­al for safe­ly run­ning untrust­ed appli­ca­tions and test­ing unknown software.
