Lit­tle unknown His­to­ry, my Great Grand­fa­ther used to own the land Cape Canaver­al is at, the US Gov­ern­ment told him he has to sell it to them!

I was in the 3rd grade in North Flori­da when this hap­pened. All of the stu­dents were lined up out­side so that we could watch the shut­tle take off. It was a big deal because the first teacher (and I believe the first black per­son) was going into space. When The Chal­lenger explod­ed, there was a col­lec­tive GASP and every­one stood in shock for a moment. Then, the teach­ers start­ed fran­ti­cal­ly hur­ry­ing us back into the build­ing. I remem­ber ask­ing, “Why are we run­ning? We’ve already seen the shut­tle blow up!” I’ll nev­er for­get it. It’s a day I think of often.

Did they ever bring it up to the surface

The day the shut­tle blew up is one of those days a lot of peo­ple will nev­er for­get where they were, what they were doing and the first time see­ing the footage of the chal­lenger being destroyed and sev­en peo­ple los­ing their lives. Awful tragedy I’ll nev­er forget.

Fun­ny how you can search every sin­gle per­son who “died” on the chal­lenger and they’ll all still alive with fat bank accounts and careers that pay top notch…hmm js search them for your­self you’ll be amazed at how much they’ve lied to us

All of the class­rooms in my school had a tele­vi­sion tuned into the actu­al lift off not know­ing what was to come. So sad

I was a stu­dent attend­ing a junior in high school just north of Anchor­age, Alas­ka. I was in Mr. Zim­mer­man’s sci­ence class and we were dis­ect­ing grasshop­pers on this day. For starters, the scent of what the grasshop­pers over­whelmed most all of us. I felt uncom­fort­able and uneasy that day and I can’t explain it but just felt like ‘some­thing’ was off. Some­thing was cre­at­ing an envi­ron­ment around me that I could ‘feel’ was not pleas­ant. Sud­den­ly, our school prin­ci­pal came over the loud speak­er of the school and announced that the Chal­lenger lift off was unsuc­cess­ful after lift off. (Some­thing to this affect) I recall his voice sound­ing very somber as he said it. he also said that TV’s would be rolled into class­rooms. It was prob­a­bly about five min­utes after the announce­ment that some­one brought a TV into our sci­ence class. Mr. Zim­mer­man announced that we could watch it but that the first part of the grasshop­per dis­ec­tion was indeed due that day. I recall watch­ing the Teacher who was onboard and her stu­dents watch­ing her too. Then came the count­down and then the ‘obvi­ous’. For­ev­er imaged in my mind of those chil­dren who watched what hap­pened as this happened…the cam­era FOCUSED on the chil­dren’s reac­tion since their Teacher was onboard. I could only watch what hap­pened ONCE. I start­ed silent­ly cry­ing feel­ing so help­less to con­sole the chil­dren, the fam­i­lies and my own class­mates. My own sci­ence Teacher just worked at his desk and encour­aged us to fin­ish the assign­ment as it WAS in fact DUE, regard­less. I recalled walk­ing up to him and telling him, “I’m sor­ry, but under these cir­cum­stances Mr. Zim­mer­man? I will have to earn an “f” as I will nev­er ever for­get this day for as long as I live. I can not com­plete this assign­ment as I am too upset with what we have just seen and heard. Now it keeps just replay­ing over and over and over on TV and now in my mind.” He just replied, “Ok, but you know what this will do to your grade, right?” I replied, “I’m more con­cerned about the beat­ing I’ll get for the bad grade but I can’t help it.” To this I turned around and went to my desk and silent­ly cried and PRAYED and PRAYED. Hugs my fel­low friends and oth­er stu­dents alike.

I thought most of the debris had been recov­ered. I guess not. 🤔 This and the Colum­bia inci­dent will not be for­got­ten. Also the three men lost dur­ing Apol­lo. Now when I see the new Artemis rock­et and Ori­on cap­sule, I see things that were brought over from the shut­tle pro­gram and I think of those peo­ple who lost their lives so that NASA could build a bet­ter and safer space­craft for today’s astro­nauts. Their deaths were not in vain. I for one will not for­get them.

This was a trav­es­ty beyond words could even com­pre­hend! NASA knew that this could hap­pen at any moment and yet they allowed those astro­nauts and that teacher to board the Chal­lenger! The engi­neers told them in fact had writ­ten let­ters to the exec­u­tives of Nasa con­firm­ing that those o‑rings were sub­stan­dard and were prone to fail but yet they pro­ceed­ed with the launch and those astro­nauts and teacher did not expire at the time of the explo­sion because the teleme­try shows after the explo­sion they all turned their oxy­gen on which indi­cates they were still alive after the explo­sion! They were killed when they impact­ed the ocean at approx­i­mate­ly at 104 mph but yet NASA and our gov­ern­ment hid that fact to make them­selves look bet­ter and feel bet­ter about them­selves for the sub­stan­dard work and equip­ment and that human life is dis­pens­able shame on them!!!💩
